Toiletry brand recommendations

RashID7 · 06/12/2024 19:06

Can anyone recommend some good toiletry brands that are not too expensive for a gift to my sister in law? (For every day things like shower gel, scrub, body butter).

Something typically British would be ideal but it doesn't have to be.

Something like kiehls would be nice but not as expensive, but also not too mainstream.

I saw products from The Retreat or Espa the other day which looked nice but I'm only basing it on the branding, no idea if they are any good?

Depending on age and tastes there’s Soap & Glory. Their Righteous body butter is the only thing that’s sorted out my dry knees and elbows. I’m in my 60s but it has a gorgeous smell (to me).

Molton Brown, Rituals, Espa, Sanctuary Cowshed, all have lovely products too depending on budget

Not British (it’s a Greek brand) but Korres have some beautiful skin and body products.

Neal’s Yard - lovely quality and packaging, there’s nothing I don’t like that they do.

Sanctuary stuff from Boots or Superdrug.

KirstenBlest · 06/12/2024 19:44

I second the Korres. It's lovely stuff. (try TK Maxx or Boots)
Neal's Yard is a bit spendy but looks impressive. What I've used has been nice.
Holland& Barrett stock Faith in Nature which is nice enough.

If it's British you're after, try Noble Isle - all inspired by British countryside, and the fragrances are lovely. It's fairly pricey but I've seen it in TK Maxx on a few occasions.

Nuxe is always gorgeous

Tret isn't advised for everyone. It can cause birth defects for instance.

RashID7 · 06/12/2024 21:02

Thank you for the amazing recommendations!

I had thought of neals yard and faith in nature but as I have used them often before it didn't feel as special.

Agree with Nuxe but she has gifted me this before so didn't want to just copy her.

I am quite tempted by Korres in the suggestions. I think I've bought this from tk max before. Can anyone vouch for the smell of the fig shower gel and body butter? Or am I better off sticking to the plain olive oil one?

Ooo actually that looks lovely too! Any particular recommendations?

Fig Korres is my absolute favourite @RashID7 - I'm smelling of it now! It's not overly sweet, more a very green scent.

Bringithere · 06/12/2024 21:25

Korres fig is one of my favourites too. If you are in reach of Waitrose or John Lewis, they do offers on Korres. They have some now

KirstenBlest · 06/12/2024 21:29

Probably not relevant to this thread:
Not expensive or luxury but Aldi does stuff that looks smart.
I bought the Waitrose pink grapefruit shower gel after seeing it recommended on here.

I love Korea too. Their body lotions are the thickest and creamiest ever.

stripeyshutters · 06/12/2024 22:47

These are also great
