It would be good to hear your one or two most favourite items.
I’m sure a few people have found good ones from their beauty advent calendars!

emma hardie moringa balm cleanser. I get spotty if I don’t use it for a couple of days, it’s just great stuff.

I like Fresh’s Lotus night cream but I swap night creams around sometimes whereas I’ve been loyal to the balm cleanser for years now.

Palmers cocoa butter lip balm!

happytobemrsg · 04/12/2024 11:21

Paula’s Choice spf 50 is amazing. Goes on beautifully & my makeup actually looks better when I’m wearing it.

Emma Lewisham Supernatural Elixir. Since using it I’ve been able to ditch foundation. Love it.

With the caveat that these are this years favourites - I like trying new stuff and don't tend to have long term loyalty often.

Sunday Riley CEO Vit C Afterglow - lovely brightening cream on a morning. If you don't have dry skin it would also be fine as your only moisture layer.

MediK8 Press and Glow Toner/ Glow Recipe Watermelon Toner - I love both these, they serve the same purpose and it's difficult to say which I like best. The GR has a bit of viscosity so can be applied by hand but the MediK8 is thinner and the press down style of the packaging means you need a cotton pad.

Glow Recipe Plum Plump Moisturiser - Got this as a 10ml mini and didn't expect to love it so much as it has a bit of a gel cream texture which normally doesn't work for my dry skin. However it's lovely and I'm a bit obsessed, it soaks in really well and the finish is a bit like Tatcha's Dewy Cream but quite a bit cheaper. I also like that it doesn't pill on top of other products or under sunscreen.

Kate Somerville Goat Milk Cleanser - Again got a mini of this to try. The first time I used it I wasn't keen on the smell but either I was having a delicate stomach day or I just got used to it because now I love it. I like to use a moisturising cleanser on an evening and this has now knocked Glow Recipe Avocado Cleanser from the top spot. I would still buy the GR cleanser though if I couldn't get KS on offer as KS is expensive as cleansers go.

Dermatica Glycerin Cleanser - I like to use a glycerin based cleanser on a morning and as yet I've not found one I like better and it's fairly affordable (also gets discounted often).

Summer Fridays lip balms and lip oils - really like these, lovely texture and lovely sheer hint of colour.

Estee Lauder Night Repair serum- I'm very late to the party on this, got a sample size and absolutely love it. I'm probably just the right age now for this to hit the spot.

Sweet Glass Skin Foundation - Really love this, it works exactly as described and is exactly the type of finish I like, medium buildable coverage, not matte but not too shiny. It lasts well on my nose (problem area).

Ouai St Barts Body Wash - Another sample size, I love the smell - it's pina colada's on a beach.

Pureology Shampoo & Conditioner - Really suit my hair type, smell lovely and you don't need to use a lot. Quite expensive but seem to be on offer somewhere most of the time.

Elemis Pro Collagen Vitality eye cream - I like this a lot and I do think it's firmed my eyes a bit (whether that's just regular application of something I don't know). Despite this I'm unsure whether to repurchase because I think it's very expensive.

Elemis Pro Collagen Marine Cream - Another Elemis 'I really like this but' product. The cream is lovely but it is expensive and it doesn't layer well with other products. I enjoy skincare layering so this cream might be better suited to someone who wants to cleanse, tone, moisturise and go. If I was going away for a few days and planned to take very few products I'd probably take this as it's rich enough to double up as night cream too.

Those are my highlights of the year. I know you said only one or two but I have a day off and I love chatting about this stuff!

Edit to add - Suqqu Aquafons lotion - Got this in the Liberty Beauty Drop, very hydrating, adore the smell. It's just very expensive for 'fat water'.

Prescription Tret that I got overseas for 2 p a tube. I use nothing else for my face except sunscreen and Oil of Olay.

As lentil weaver says tretinoin I get from allday chemist

its the best thing I have ever used without a doubt

anything else now is superfluous and for the 'feels' only!
I do like luna sleep oil and the Sisley cream black swan or something

OvaHere · 04/12/2024 12:53

Above post should read Sweed Glass Skin not Sweet.

okydokethen · 04/12/2024 13:00

Murad Oil and Pore Mattifier SPF45

I wear it every day, face, neck and chest- it's a thick cream that feels protective but also really helps my PCOS oily skin. I hope the spf will help me keep my nice skin as I get older (I'm 40)

okydokethen · 04/12/2024 13:02

Murad is also a cruelty free brand, I've tried this year to change all of my many products to cruelty free.

Nivea blue tin

CorneliaStreet · 04/12/2024 13:29

@OvaHere I must have similar skincare taste to you, I also love the Glow Recipe avocado cleanser and the watermelon toner, the Kate Somerville goat milk cleanser and the Summer Fridays lip balm.

Other favourites:

Murad AHA/BHA cleanser - leaves my skin so soft.

Farmacy Green Clean and Heimish All Clean cleansing balms - almost exactly the same but the Heimish is cheaper. They both get eye make up off so easily and wash off cleanly.

Laneige lip sleeping mask - best lip balm I’ve ever used.

Skin 1004 cica-fit spf - lovely to apply, nice finish and lightweight but hydrating at the same time.

@CorneliaStreet @OvaHere
I’ve been considering Sunday Friday’s lip balm as a gift so good to hear good reviews on them!

Farmacy Green Clean is my all time favourite product I think so I'm going to try the Heimish one as money is tight! Thank you.

I also love Murad products but find some of them smell weird. The Vitamin C face wash though is gorgeous and smells like a lovely fresh margarita! Grin I buy it in travel sized for gym bags or when travelling .

DD swears by the laneige lip sleeping mask as she has intolerances that can leave her lips and surrounding skin very dry and flakey after a flare up. She's very careful with it as she knows I'll kill her if it gets lost as it's expensive and she's desperate for the Summer Fridays lip balm so I guess that's 100% in the christmas list based on your similar recommendations. Grin

I will add Bio oil. I use it as a bath oil, especially in winter - one generous squirt into a warm bath. Leaves my entire body feeling moisterised and soft and I will never be without it. It was a godsend when the DC were little and had dry scaly skin.

My final one is the Clarins Gentle Face Peel. It is the best exfoliating product ever and I always use it before a big night out or when my skin is feeling particularly dull.

paristotokyo · 04/12/2024 14:25

Agree with quite a few of these! Summer Fridays and Laneige lip balms, KS goat milk cleanser and skin1004 water fit spf. I'll add to the mix Biossance squalane and hyaluronic toning mist. Got this in a beauty edit and have repurchased a few times since. Mists nicely, smells lovely and feels hydrating on my very dry skin. I also love the luxuriously lucent Lisa Eldridge lipsticks and the shade painterly is perfect for autumn/winter with my skin tone. So flattering and the formula is great. A very recent find is the Erborian red correct in the green tube. I was using the cc cream for a long time but find I want even less coverage than that (gave up foundation years ago). This removes all the redness and leaves the rest of my skin looking like my skin. So perfect for what I was looking for.

Trickedbyadoughnut · 04/12/2024 14:33

I love the Erborian Skin Hero eye cream at the moment, I'm definitely going to have to get the face one too!

This has reminded me I missed something off my list. The newly released Tatcha Cleansing Balm. It's lovely, very effective but also gentle, but you don't get much for the price. Luckily I've managed to get a 2nd pot with a good reduction during BF week.

Very pleased with this. An SPF 50 and a tint! Contains Vitamin C. Normally my skin does not like Vitamin C - doesn't exactly 'react' but is not happy. However if feels good on. I know some people will say you should put a normal SPF on as you need to put more on than you do a serum/moisturiser but this is what I use.
