Wedding rings - different retailers

Hi, so dp and i want wedding rings of the plain sort that you can find in most high street jewellers.

Wondering why eg goldsmiths is so much more expensive than h Samuel for what appears to be the same thing.

Has anyone looked into this and can offer any advice?

Goldsmiths and Beaverbrooks are much more expensive, some people will pay more for the name, I think. Gold is gold in my opinion! I'd be inclined to shop around.

In my experience you get what you pay for, the cheaper ones are thinner and sharper and lighter weight. I know Beaverbrooks are expensive but I emailed them once and they told me they do not use nickel in any of their products including white gold so probably use superior alloys which cost more to manufacture

If it’s the same weight and carat I don’t think it matters ours were one of goldsmiths or beaverbrooks can’t remember which but only because they were 50% off or more due to Covid killing retailers in 2020

full price is poor value imo

As above, weight, quality of the gold, quality of the finish.

I am allergic to certain allots in gold so I won't buy from cheap high street jewellers as they use lots of cheap metals to mix in. Where as the likes of Beaverbrooks etc don't.

From my experience steer clear of Ernest Jones. They are shockingly bad for customer service. They have had my engagement ring for repair for 3 months and I still don't even have a quote.

If on a budget, I do recommend EDS Jewels, they are quality pieces I have found

Thanks, I'd love to be able to go into different shops to see/try in person but I'm severely limited due to location so will likely have to buy online. Good to know re nickel in beaverbrooks.
