Do you use eyeshadow primer?

LoafofSellotape · 28/11/2024 23:13

AYU eye shadow sticks are great for the mature woman ! 😉

I've switched to cream eyeshadow as I have become older.

Wish I had done it sooner. Much easier to apply (the good ones will just blend with my finger), no fallout and stay put.

I tend to avoid statement colours and stick to more muted tones.

I really like cream eyeshadow sticks in particular as you can apply close to the lash line and blend out meaning I can also ditch eyeliner.

I use eyeshadow. Without it, my eyes look tired and small. I always hope I can get away with just mascara but I really notice the difference when I have eyeshadow too.

Should have said I rate Bobbi Brown and Laura Mercier but the one I reach for most is actually the least expensive: Pixi in cognac or bronze which are great for everyday and I can slap on in two mins.

I mainly use cream now, No 7 Stay Perfect stick or Maybelline Colour Tattoo. If I do want to use powder, then Barry M primer first makes a big difference.

I use eyeshadow but no fancy smoked out eyes these days - can’t see what I’m doing anymore 😂

Eyeshadow sticks sound like a winner.

Very few eyeshadows have no fall down.

Just do your eyes first, and put your foundation after that to avoid smudges.

Thanks everyone for great advice.
I never knew there was eyeshadow primer.

Will eyeshadow cream feel more greasy and show fine lines more? How long will it last?
Lots of questions as will buy one and try .

It's partly the product you use and the preperation of the eyelid.

Powder eyeshadow can have drop out depending on the brand, higher end like MAC you don't really get that problem. Eyeshadow sticks are generally better as the apply silky for blending, and then they set without fallout.

My prep before makep is cleanse, tone, serum, moisturiser, concealer blended well with a sponge, then a decent powder to set your base. Then I use a eyeshadow stick (Victoria Beckham Beauty) and blend out. I set it with a fixing spray (MAC Fix).

I expect if you didn't want to add all that to your routine the basic prep would be cleanse, moisturise, and an eyeshadow stick on top.

Eyeshadow primer isn't really any different from a normal face primer in my experience, so don't get too caught up in buying an expensive one when a face primer will do the same.

Eyeshadow sticks don't feel greasy, more silky on application, then dry so you don't get any smudging after, it stays as you left it. My VB Beauty eyeshadow stick has good lastability, if I fall asleep and forget to remove, I wake up with it still in place the next morning despite rolling around in my sleep!

I had a make up session at Benefit. It taught me about primer and was a game changer about blusher! I'm in my 50's.

youaintblue · 29/11/2024 10:17

Not sure how to use primer?
What order please?

On top of a moisturiser/eye cream but before make up - eg foundation/eye make up.
