Looking back on purchases and cringeing 😬

I've just had a glance back through my purchases and favourites on eBay from the past couple of years and quite a few strike me as bad taste now. I did have to buy quite a lot in a short space of time which might have thrown my sense of taste a little...but not that much. I remember thinking how lovely they were at the time, though.

In Mumsnetese: I've given myself the ick when it comes to fashion.

Does anyone else find they look back and cringe, even on relatively recent purchases, or do you keep a steady sense of taste?

Or for those who don't experience this: how do you avoid "getting the ick" for you own clothes and why does it even happen?

@amoreoamicizia what did you buy that was that bad?! I'm intrigued now

I lost my mind clothes wise during lockdown I think. Some hideous purchases that I’ve since sold on Vinted.

Maybe I've just got bad taste, then. I just look back on things and think "ugh".

Most of my wardrobe I keep for years, and some items wear out or get faded. I then try to find a similar item because it works for me. Admittedly I'm not very trendy, but mostly classic casual.

Maybe you need to go through your wardrobe and see what you actually wear instead of what you buy and it sits unworn or gets sent to charity. Then in future buy different versions of items you wear.

yes, when I first started losing weight I went on a spending spree in places like Temu, Shein, Boo Hoo, etc.
Obviously the clothes were all shite and I have learned my lesson. Id rather save up and buy decent brands or get them second hand then go for fast fashion again.
