Airport Chic

I am off to Thailand in 2 weeks for my first trip away with my lovely partner for my 50th birthday & I want to look fabulous for the airport (& of course comfortable for the flight).

I’m a petite size 10 (5ft 2), I would prefer my bum covered & nothing too tight/ fitted. I would ideally like some sort of co ord that doesn’t drown me…

Can I please have some help/ suggestions. I am clueless what to wear! Thanks in advance x

How about something from Varley? Their clothes are unbelievably soft and comfy but look really well put together I think. uk.varley.com

Hijacking your thread to say - be careful what you drink.
There is a big issue with methanol poisoning in Asia.
Several times this year large groups of people have been poisoned and died by dodgy drinks.

Oh wow. The Varley outfits are lovely, really liking the slim pant style. That would be perfect. Thank you..

I've been following that, so very sad. I'll be careful, thank you.

Look at the temperatures the other end. I tend to opt for a dress in a t shirt material for comfort and have tights on the U.K. end which I can take off before landing. I travel a fair amount long haul and find these days planes are hot

Take a good silk/cashmere shawl. It will keep you warm in the airport/plane. Also, useful when you are in air-conditioning at the other end, folds down small, easy to pop in your bag. Also useful if you go anywhere you need to cover your hair, shoulders and arms.

I don't know if you could make them chic but I bought these in black for a long haul flight and they were so comfy and fairly lightweight so they washed and dried quickly for the return journey home. Women's Ultra Stretch AIRism Joggers | UNIQLO UK

Lots of thin layers than can be added or removed as required.

Shoes that can taken off and on easily.

Nothing tight. Nothing light coloured. Nothing revealing. no high heels or short skirts or plunging necklines.

Apart from that, as long as you are not dirty or scruffy , wear whatever is comfortable . Long loose dress / skirt / trousers / joggers / flat shoes or sandals.

If you are American, You have to wear black leggings, a large cotton sweatshirt and white trainers, it’s actually the law 😬

However Im sorry to have to tell that you no one else cares what you wear . Really they don’t . Even A class slebs travel in track suits, trainers and baseball caps. So make a big effort if you like , just as long as you know that you will be the only one caring about your fabulousness. So do it for you.

Yes that also applies to your lovely partner, especially if they are a man. “ I like my bird to look sexy on long haul Flights “ said no man ever. All they care about is watching a movie, having a drink and getting their head down to sleep.

I go next week and always go away this time of year so do the above.
T-shirt dress thick tights and nice trainers all black, I’ve got a lovely chunky knit sage green cardigan and wear my thin but warm puffer. The puffer comes off when I get to my seat and goes over my knees!
The closer to destination I get the more comes off, take cheap slippers ( washable) and eye mask.
The heat hits you as soon as the plane doors opens, so you need cool and comfortable, made the mistake of wearing trousers before and nearly melted.

If I know I am going from cold to warm destination, I wear my wide leg lululemon trousers, a black vest top, and colourful light cardigan, with closed toe shoes. Pack a medium weight wrap in your carry on bag to use as a blanket. The cardigan can be taken off at destination, but still be in use for cool evenings.
