Can you wear aftershave/men's scents if you are female?

I really like the smell of a lot of men's scents. I was thinking of buying one because I would like to smell it through the day, but would other people notice or think its odd?

Does it really matter?

Frieda12 · 26/11/2024 17:32

I would if you like it

Purpleavocado · 26/11/2024 17:33

Lots of fragrances are marketed as unisex now - DH and I both love wearing Scherzo. I would go for it.

BabstheBounder · 26/11/2024 17:33

Yes, but you have to be very, very careful otherwise you'll find yourself chased through town by a line of women, attracted to you because of your manly scent.

Magpiecomplex · 26/11/2024 17:36

I do! I have quite a collection.

LardoBurrows · 26/11/2024 17:41

I have often bought and worn "men's" cologne. I love a lot of the scents marketed for men as I love clean, fresh scents such as bergamot, lemon, leather and tobacco, particularly in the summer. I think a lot of women just buy what they like, as a pp said a lot of perfume is marketed as unisex, but even if not, just wear what you like, I doubt anyone would notice or think it's odd.

Ladamesansmerci · 26/11/2024 17:43

Yes, it's literally just a smelly liquid. There is no such thing as a feminine or masculine scent beyond societal expectations. But what you like!

TheDandyLion · 26/11/2024 17:48

I don't think the Lynx effect is actually real.

LastNightMyPJsSavedMyLife · 26/11/2024 18:00

Given the fact that Barry can pop on a pussy bow blouse, pleather mini skirt and a pair of fishnets and call himself Belinda and everyone else has to believe he's Belinda or they will die for their hate crimes a bit of cologne won't even be noticed.

FergussSingsTheBlues · 26/11/2024 18:01

I wear Chanel noir and am stopped fairly regularly - by men complimenting the smell!!

SeaDragon17 · 26/11/2024 18:02

I do. I always wear Terre d’Hermes which I love. It isn’t even a particularly “unisex” smell but who cares? I have even been complimented on it!

Me too. I find a lot of women's scents are a bit on the sweet side.

Of course you can. I do all the time and so far, I have not been banned from any establishments

Be careful @Twazique, it’s illegal in 16 countries and you could face the death penalty in some states. Rest in peace.

Tobacco???! Really? A "clean, fresh scent"?

StMarie4me · 26/11/2024 18:40

I do. 😊

Defiantlynot41 · 26/11/2024 18:44

Dior Fahrenheit (men) is very similar to the much missed Ultima 11 Skinscent (women)

Jo Malone Pomegranate Noir and English Oak & Hazelnut are both marketed to men and women

Wear what smells good on you

BeachRide · 26/11/2024 19:00

Do they still make CK ONE? Gorgeous.

Yep. There is nothing like the smell of nicotine in the morning.

Yes. Although that was always advertised as a unisex scent.

I love vetiver which is often a masculine note in a scent. And lavender often features in masculine scents, just think of the classic fougere structure.

BubblePerm · 26/11/2024 19:34

It won't make you grow a cock and a beard, don't worry.

Whichoneisthebest · 26/11/2024 19:41

I can confirm this! My preferred shower gels are the men’s lynx ones , and I’ve been known to wear the Lynx tropical deodorant…. Zero ladies running after me🤣

permanently · 26/11/2024 19:53

Yes I wear more neutral perfumes and currently share one with my husband

NunyaBeeswax · 26/11/2024 20:08

Few years ago now, I had an ex that always smelled bloody gorgeous.
I asked him what it was he wore and he wouldn't say, so I had to snoop...
I forget the exact name, but it was a Yardley Violet perfume. (Smelled like Parma violet sweets)

He was embarrassed, don't now why, nice smells are nice smells and it worked on him.

Go for it op.
