Those red light masks 🤷‍♀️

Anyone tried a one of those red light masks? I just used to see famous people use them but now they seem to be more readily available. Just wondering if anyone has used them. Don't really trust reviews online. Looking for an improvement in scrotum like eye bags 🫠😫😬🫠

I want to know too.

GorgeousLadyofWrestling · 24/11/2024 12:53

I just bought one completely on impulse last night, a drunken Black Friday purchase. My DH works in health and fitness, and when I mentioned it (expecting him to laugh) he said he heard good things about red light therapy from ancillary colleagues and wanted to try it too. His only real gripe was that he’d wanted to ask his colleagues which ones were the best.

LunaTheCat · 24/11/2024 12:57

I have just bought one - an omnilux- I have red light facials every month and just bought one I can use at home - it’s very relaxing.

LushLemonTart · 24/11/2024 13:04

I'd like to know if they work especially the neck ones?

Strictlyshortly · 24/11/2024 15:16

I'm tempted too. Would they help my rosacea?

The one I have has different colours that apparently do different things, I’ll have a quick google.

This is a good article on the different colours and they’re for.

Thats really helpful, thanks

GettingStuffed · 24/11/2024 16:34

TBH following the filler debacle I'd be wary of jumping on the next bandwagon. Although there is a lot of anecdotal evidence about red light there haven't been many controlled tests so you have no way of knowing what wavelength and time limits are best.

Rosieposieposie · 24/11/2024 17:14

@GettingStuffed the filler debacle? Do you mean how everyone just jumped to do it and the results are often lacking? And plus it's just stuff that lingers in your face?

I just listened to a podcast covering this. So it seems that it is possible that red light therapy can work but consumer devices vary massively so do your research

Can you point us at the podcast please.

I’ve got an Omnilux and it works wonders for my adult acne. I don’t know about anti ageing effects though.

TTPDTS · 24/11/2024 18:14

I use one religiously - it's incredible! I've noticed such an improvement to my skin, but you do need to make sure you get one with the correct wavelengths / lights for what you want - some can be ineffective.

I use mine 3-5 times a week and it's just part of my regular routine now.

HornyHornersPinkyWinky · 24/11/2024 18:16

I have the Currentbody one, and from my totally unscientific personal research, I've concluded that it has a mild glowy effect on my skin, but only if used regularly (which I'm usually too lazy to do).

I find it a bit taffy to use. I think of it as a 'nice to have', but it's not going to work miracles so don't expect to see amazing results or anything.

And unfortunately, it won't do anything for eye bags OP, it only works on skin.

Which one do you use?

Laboheme78 · 24/11/2024 19:11

I have just ordered the Dr Dennis Gross one on a Black Friday deal. I spoke to a dermatologist about them and she said that with consistent use they give good results. Turning 50 soon and doing all I can to keep my skin looking good. Also my teenage son has mild acne and am hoping he can also use it (with a good surgical spirit wipe down in between). Will hopefully see the benefits by Christmas!

superplumb · 26/11/2024 17:42

Shark have a new one out. They have cooling pads underneath.
Tempted for current body series 2. I've watched so many videos recently on them and current body has proven effects ( apparently). You need to use it 5x a week for months to see any difference

TTPDTS · 26/11/2024 19:32

@Iamthemoom

I have the current body one! I have separate ones for blue light. I'm thinking of upgrading to the shark which has both colours in one, and giving mine to my sister.

I bought the current body one with 25% off in the sale and thought it was worth it!

Which mask did you buy, please? And how are you finding it so far?

LunaTheCat · 17/01/2025 09:28

I splashed out and bought an omnilux - it has a lot research behind it. After 2 months using 3 times weekly10 mins there is a huge change - loss finer lines and my skin just glows! Very very happy.
