I have an evening do at work (posh hotel, dinner, dancing after) which, frankly, I am dreading. My normal fashion style is a custom leggings/tshirts/dog hair combo which, whilst unique to me, is not suitable for the event.
I spent a panicked morning yesterday in town dress shopping before stumbling into Phase Eight where an incredibly helpful sales person pulled about a million dresses for me to try on. Things I seriously never thought would suit. I've ended up buying this: https://www.phase-eight.com/product/trudy-black-sequin-velvet-shift-dress-222513050.html#navAjax=true&is=true&cgid=party&sz=60&start=0&isSecondPage=false&prefn1=color&prefv1=Black&pid=222513050&pos=4
I love it. It's sparkly. It hides the perimenopausal bulges. It's comfy. It makes me feel fun and partyish. It is, however, very short.
I own no suitable shoes. I need to buy shoes. In the shop, I tried on a pair of silver shoes that looked fabulous with it (albeit I'd never have been able to walk in them, so won't be buying that particular pair). Silver shoes would mean bare legs? Or at least neutral legs? My natural skin tone at this time of year is wall-paper paste, so the colour contrast with the dress is much higher than for the model. Style wise I think it works but I repeat work do, short...
If you were me would you go for fun silver shoes? Or black tights and black shoes? The latter feels the safe but boring choice.
Style gurus, help?
