Nivea soft formula change

I cannot put in to words the rage I feel about the formula change of Nivea soft. I've used it for around 15 years and now can't have it anywhere near my skin as it makes it sore, red, spotty and dry.

Anyway! Has anyone managed to find an alternative that is actually similar?

What I loved about Nivea soft is how I could also use it as a primer so is there anything out there that does the same job and doesn't irritate sensitive skin?

Nooooo! I am using up a big pot and hadn't heard about this. It's literally one of those products I am regularly so grateful is cheap but brilliant, I've also used it for as long as I can remember. Gutted if they've ruined it!

I'm so sorry you didn't know 😢 go on the website and look at the new reviews - I'm sure they will have to change back to the old formula with the backlash they're receiving. I bloody hope so anyway! 😭

I hope so! Will try and hunt down some old formula pots in the meantime.

ProvincialLady24 · 24/11/2024 04:36

I have no idea why they tinkered with it in the first place. Don't they know - if it ain't broken - don't fix it!

I'm going to email them as so many have n the hope that Nivea relent and return to the formula we all love.

BiscottiToffee · 24/11/2024 04:40

I'm sure this happened when they decided to make it vegan.

My mum has used Nivea for god knows how many decades and has bought a huge stash of the old one.

Hopefully by the time she runs out, they will have reverted or another brand will have filled the gap.

Makelikeatreeandleaf · 24/11/2024 04:41

I read a thread on here about the change a few weeks ago, so bought 2 big tubs of the proper stuff. My skin liked the Vit E superdrug range so will probably try that again next.

Queeezy · 24/11/2024 04:44

You can still get the old stuff, it doesn’t have vegan on the lid - independent chemists are a good bet I’ve found! It’s so annoying x

AndCoronets · 24/11/2024 05:26

I hadn't realised this as I've been using up a stash bought during an offer.
Gutted as I've used it for years, I'm not a beauty product person, this is one of the only things I buy.

isthismylifenow · 24/11/2024 05:34

The tin of the Nivea blue is different too now. It's a lighter shade of blue and 80% recyclable. The ingredients are still the same, and I hope to goodness they don't change that one too.

Why they didn't do that with Soft I have no idea. They took out the lanolin, which is what made it so great.

Have a look at smaller shops and rake through the stock. I managed to find a supply from a supermarket. The old ones were at the back, very grateful for their shocking rotation system that day.

FormerlySpeckledyHen · 24/11/2024 06:36

There was a thread about this a couple of months ago and I stocked up then from Amazon.
My local Waitrose still had a few big pots (500ml) of the old formula a couple of weeks ago.

SophieB0012 · 24/11/2024 08:24

Thanks for all your replies - I guess I need to get busy and try and find some of the old stuff!
I'm going to trawl through all the chemists round here 😂

I've just had four 500ml of old-style Nivea soft arrive in my Ocado shop! The other sizes were the new formula. Should keep me going for a while!

Ah you're all giving me great hope I may find some!!

@SophieB0012 Totally agree the new formula is rubbish. The best alternative I’ve found is Astral. However, it’s oilier than the Nivea so good for night, but not as good for day.

ps I’ve just found big tubs of old style in Morrisons. £5.65 each though!

Littlebluebird123 · 25/11/2024 07:33

My daughter has very sensitive skin and it was one of the few things she could use. So annoying!

Alternatives are simple moisturisers and a couple of baby moisturisers, child's farm and Coco hills.

boulevardofbrokendreamss · 25/11/2024 08:26

There was a thread on here a while ago about it. I and lots of others equally enraged complained to Nivea. Got some bollocks response about sustainability.

It's the only thing that doesn't make my skin flare up. I managed to find some in my local Tesco express where presumably they do t have a high turnover and moisturiser so stocked up on the last ten pots they had.

Ah - I didn't realise they'd done a Body Shop by making a product 'vegan' and worsening it in the process.
I bought a huge tub on holiday. It doesn't moisturise my skin at all.
