VIP at the races

Hi, I've been invited to attend a VIP box at Carlise racecourse. I believe the box has it's own host and a balcony. It sounds quite posh. I've never been to the races before and haven't a clue what to wear and of ourse it'll be cold as it's winter. Any help would be really appreciated please.

Jump racing, winter meeting? I go to the races a lot.For hospitality I'd wear smart tailored coat, long, with long boots, dress or smart skirt and top/ jumper. Gloves and hat recommended I like the faux fur hats

I’d avoid suede shoes/boots as you may have to walk on grass and if there’s been any rain then it will spoil the suede.
Have fun and win lots of money!

Yes I forgot mention that leather boots best. I have lined fleece ones for extra warmth. And 100 denier tights

The box itself will be indoors with a balcony of some sort to watch the racing. Some of these boxes (I don't know Carlisle) are fully glassed-in. As a VIP, you'll be eating and drinking and perhaps having a full-on lunch; you might not be outside at all while you're there. So wear layers you can take off!

Placing bets is made super-easy for you. Have fun and I hope you leave better off than you arrived 😊

Thank you all. I believe it's jump racing. A hat really?! I'm so glad I asked. I was thinking along the lines of smartish jeans and a blouse. I'm going to have to give this some thought.

I have some nice knee length grey boots, black tights, a dress (not sure yet) and a black tailored coat?

If it's December 15th, it's called Christmas Jumper day - so you could always wear one 😄They encourage it!

I wish it was, that would have been so easy to do.

We are in a couple of syndicates so a day at the races for us is pretty much all outside down by the paddock watching the action. Hence I need my hat on a chilly day. If you're going be indoors mainly you probably won't need one.
Racing dress codes are a bit more relaxed now anyway although for hospitality I'd avoid jeans.
Carlisle is a Jockey Club course and I believe their dress code is simply dress for your day. I wouldn't worry too much,
