Long Down/Puffer Coat Recommendations

It's black friday and I've been desperate for a while for a long down/puffer style coat.

The down ones look super expensive but are they really worth the hype?

There are some good deals on non down style ones at The White Stuff, Crew Club and North Ridge but I'm not sure if spending a little more for down is worth it?

It ideally needs to be waterproof and cope with dog walking weather. Is the Uniqlo one worth the hype and can anyone help with their sizing?

Would welcome any recommendations. Ideally I'd like to avoid black/grey khaki and go for blues or greens

Thanks so much!

Sweaty Betty nimbus is brilliant for hours at the side of the rugby pitch in all weathers.

I’ve had my North Face long down coat since DC was in Reception. He’s 19 now 🤣 Allegedly, it wasn’t supposed to be worn in rainstorms but was meant to be good in snowstorms. In other words it dies keep the wet out but supposedly needs fluffing up a bit. I used to wear it for months every winter, mostly because once worn on a cold walk or a windy sports field it becomes clear nothing else will do the same level of cosy protection.

DH has a Uniqlo one which he highly recommends. I think it was a quite affordable price when he bought it.

On the non posh down front, Mountain Warehouse ones are pretty good. I have a short, hoodless jacket from there that keeps me warm and could compete with the long North Face coat if it was longer and had a hood

DH and I both got Superdry coats last year and they're so warm! They're not down due to ethic reasons but still extremely warm. They also have multiple pockets so very practical and there's various styles and colours.

I've got a Puffa jacket down that goes over my bum that is waterproof and had it for eleven years. It leaked a bit last year in a torrential downpour and will be replacing it at some point, so placemarking.
Not sure if Puffa still going, but got mine from TKMaxx at a knockdown price.

I have a couple of knee length Regatta padded parkas and can def recommend. Very warm and waterproof. I got both in perfect condition really cheap on Vinted.
Only thing Id say is if you buy Regatta you have to size up as they come up really small.

Mine is from www.savetheduck.com/en-gb

And I love it!

Superdry is not very fashionable any more but their coats are well designed and good value for money.
