If there's not been a specific dress code put out, I normally have a google of the venue and see how formal/fancy it is. For something like a gala dinner, I'd usually go for a longer dress. Quiz have loads in at the moment!
Curve Black Cowl Neck Maxi Dress - QUIZ Clothing - for example

What is the dress code on your invitation? Are there photos of previous events on insta or elsewhere?

Beyond that, it would be hard to suggest anything without knowing your clothing size, budget and preferred style.

Need a bit more to go on, what is the nature of the dinner? Gala would normally imply long dress and black tie.

Size 14, carry weight in tummy. Big boobs. 5ft 6.
I don't like frills and large patterns.

@Mrspinknails

Which colours suit you best?

Do you prefer dresses with sleeves?

boulevardofbrokendreamss · 21/11/2024 22:18

What does the invite say?!?

I like quite rich colours.
Ad for sleeves not usually, happy with strapless but not shoestring straps which seem to make my arms look bigger.

Oh that's gorgeous!

StormingNorman · 22/11/2024 13:24

I wouldn’t do strapless for dinner. Long and simple is always a good option if you’re not sure if it’s black or white tie.

OatFlatWhiteForMePlease · 22/11/2024 13:26

What sort of budget?
