Next week I've got my hair cut appointment and I'm very excited to be going from long to short.

I'm now also having a moment of madness and thinking about colouring it too?! I'm currently brunette. Can you actually dye it blonde at home using box dye or will it always look a bit shit? Maybe a lighter brown would be safer? Could get it highlighted at the hair dressers but might not be able to afford it.

Going blonde isn't going to be box dye - it's going to be bleach and toner, unless you're already blonde and going a darker blonde? Honestly wouldn't do at home personally, if you don't know what you're doing it's going to end up yellow or over processed I think!

What colour are you naturally? Also if your hairdressers have any apprentices they normally offer services at a really reduced rate when learning - might be worth volunteering. It's all supervised and using salon products!
