Jacket and shoes/boots for interview

I have an interview on Friday I have a lovely plain black pinafore dress. Fits me well and is very comfortable.

I need advice about jacket and shoes. I have a plain teal cardigan that I can wear (waist length button through a little bit shapeless) and knee high black boots. Is that really naff and dated.
I’m 50, size 10, and 5ft 5, pretty flat chested
I think I need a nice jacket that I can wear again. Never sure what to wear with plain black.
Knee high boots? Or should I splash out in ankle boots?
I cycle to work and can wear anything day to day so don’t want heels that will just sit in cupboard for years

A ‘pinafore dress’ suggests you have to wear something underneath it? Is that what you mean? Should be fine if you think it’s the right level of in/formality.

For an interview I do think a jacket would be better than a shapeless cardigan. I seem to recall people here praising a jersey jacket from … probably Jigsaw. Maybe take a look at that? I’d suggest camel or grey or dark green if you’re not keen on all black. Do you have a specific budget?

Black knee high boots sound perfectly fine. Clean, polished, vaguely up to date?

Pinafore is the wrong word i think. Maybe shift dress. I couldn't put anything under it but it is sleeveless. It is belted at the waist and fits nicely
I think all black is a bit much and I am going back to work afterwards so don't want to look like I've been to a funeral.
The cardigan is neat and newish but just a bit too soft.
Boots are clean and nice. Wedges heel so very comfortabnle. Just not sure about the whole thing.
Part of the issue is its my own job I am being interviewed for. Long story of restructure and fixed term contracts. All a bit crap. I will need to stand up and give a presentation.

Ah - definitely a jacket if you have to give a presentation!

This is half wool, so should hang well:

This is a similar fabric mix:

& Other Stories

If you wanted to spend considerably less

Uniqlo

has a tailored jacket for less than £40. Not wool obviously, but looks nice.

(Having to apply for your own job is crap. I do wish you luck.)

Whatever i buy has to stay on throughout. I don't think I can show off my arms even if I get hot. The cos one is far too big I'd be lost in it. I'll keep looking
Thanks

It's Whistles' jersey jacket, not Jigsaw, that gets a lot of deserved love. I've got 1 in black and a zipped version in navy.

loving the Whistles jacket. I will definitely get one. I borrowed something similar from a friend and wore with black trousers in the end as the weather was so bad.

I got the job

thanks all
