Straighteners or something else?

After years of having very long hair and tying it up in a bun I have had it chopped to shoulder length - I haven't had straighteners since original GHDs as I stopped leaving my hair down so long ago. So, do I go for straighteners? Which is best? Or an alternative option?

I’ve had GHDs and Cloud 9’s, both very good but have recently broken (after many years) and I bought some of the Remington Shine Therapy after another thread on here with loads of recommendations. Currently really cheap, £24 down from £80!

They are a bit clunkier and don’t do anything else but straighten (more expensive easier to use for curling etc) but so far I’ve been really impressed, they do the job well! I do have easy to straighten hair though, so a disclaimer it could depend on your hair type.

I’ve had my GHD straightener for nearly a decade now, still going strong. Can’t fault it at all. I have shoulder-length hair as well. Can use it for beachy waves as well if I fancy a change.

New GHDs are crap, Cloud 9 aren't much better. I've always used Remington, they straighten, curl and wave really well. I have the ceramic ones at the moment, they were £26 and the best I've used

@Kw1234hhggf

Thanks - I think boots are on a bit of a piss take though, they are down to £24 on AO as well, but form £35 originally Shock

They look like a good contender though

Thanks I had heard GHDs are not up to much these days, I think the Remington are going to be the way to go

My old GHDs lasted the same time, but I hear they don't make them the same anymore Sad

I second the Remington shine therapy. I had original GHD's for 17 years but they died a few month backs so bought the Remington and love them xxx

The original GHDs were great, but I believe the original creators of those left and started up Cloud 9. When my GHDs gave up after 20 years I bought the Cloud 9 ones, sent them back for a full refund. I noticed someone up thread said they had the Remington Shine Therapy ones, these were great for straightening my hair but constantly snagged when trying to curl. Must've been the coating on them so I swapped for the ceramic ones

I've just replaced my old GHDs with the dyson airstrait. It's pricey but leaves my hair very soft and straight with much less heat and no need to dry then straighten.
