I am wanting to buy myself a lovely new handbag.
I would like a stylish, good size back that can be worn crossbody.
Any one got and advice or feedback.
I wanted something different from the usual designer bags Mulberry, LV etc.
Maybe something a bit more understated but oozes class!

The Midi New York | Tan Small Grain Ecru Stitching | DeMellier
The New York Large Bucket | Tan Small Grain Ecru Stitching | DeMellier

Concerned this will be too small
Polène | Bag - Numéro Dix - Onda Cognac

Love this, which I think can be held all ways
Polène | Bag - Numéro Neuf - Textured Camel

The Midi New York | Tan Small Grain Ecru Stitching | DeMellier

The New York collection is inspired by our love for the city that never sleeps - it’s unique energy, architecture and people. A modern yet timeless silhouette, this ‘Midi’ style is the perfect day bag.

I have the large New York tote. The midi might be okay crossbody but it's quite a structured bag so can't imagine it sitting that nicely cross body. The large one I use as a work tote. It's okay but I don't like it as much as I thought I would. Opened out it's one big cavernous hole. I put a liner in it but it doesn't work great with the bag shape.

I also have the Polene Numero Neuf. Again a very structured bag. I like it but I never use it crossbody as I don't find it comfortable - it's hand held or crook of arm. The opening is very narrow and it's not that easy to get in and out of (don't consider the mini size that's much worse). That said I do love the leather, the colour and the unusual shape. If you can get over the faffy opening it is quite roomy.

I don't have the Dix but I don't think they do hold much, they seem quite narrow.

To add one of the best crossbody bags I've tried but don't own is the Loewe Puzzle. They are very expensive new though.

Sorry OP I’m no help because I have both a Polene and a Demellier but none of the styles you’ve linked to.

I have the Polene Cyme regular size which can’t be worn cross body but I also have the Demellier Vancouver which can be and is fabulous, have you considered it? I have it in Olive with a contrast stitch and get lots of compliments on it, but don’t think that particular colour way is available any more.

Oh also OP, I also have a lovely bucket style bag from Paris64, have you looked at their website? It has the most wonderful interior lining!

I do like the Paris64 @Peaceatlast01 what size did you buy? Is the large too large? Is the quality of the bag good?

Oh that New York bucket bag is beautiful 😍

Mirrorxxx · 16/11/2024 07:27

Iagree the puzzle is the be st cross body. My most used bag. You can probably find one used for under 2000

@Mangolover123 I went for the Baby Always which is the smallest but it’s still a good size, depending how much you want to fit in you might be good with the medium size.

I found Pinterest was good to see the different sizes as it’s hard to tell in just a product picture.

The quality and attention to detail is excellent, I love the lining and the logo is stamped on the bottom too, highly recommend!

Your other option if you like the bucket style is a Sezane Farrow

Thanks for all the suggestions.

I am not necessarily stuck on the bucket style, my current cross over bag is the Hermes Evelyn, which I got second hand and have used everyday for the last 7/8 years and it is just showing its age and the handle joint is about to snap, I will probably get it mended but it is a well worn bag!. It is the best cross body bag ever and you can hold huge amount. I do not want to pay out that kind of money for new (if I could actually get one) or 2nd hand.

The Sezane Rose is beautiful.

So any other suggestions, much appreciated.
The Paris64 is in the lead very closely followed by the Sezane (excellent price point!)

Looking for a bag that screams quality without the obvious logo.

I have a dix from polene and love it. It doesn’t hold tons but phone/keys/purse/tissues/lipstick is doable. Importantly it is quite stiff so things don’t fall out even if you don’t close it. Had it a year and still v happy.

This could be the one.....
