Didrikson Erika 3 sizing advice please

I love the Erika and initially bought a 14 and 16 to try but kept the 16. I’m 5ft 5 and 11 stone and seem to carry weight more on my hips. The size 14 was probably the right size but I was worried would end up a little snug around the hips especially if I put on a pounds or two.
The 16 fits hips okay but it quite huge on me overall and will be worse if I lose any weight.
I’ve never spent so much on a coat and so want it to be right. How do people find the fit? Would you get just okay around hips or go for loose fitting?
Very reluctant to return as do love it.

I was in between a 10 and 12 when I bought mine and kept a size 12. Ive since lost weight still wear the 12, I just pull the adjustable waist in if its really windy, but I find it is comfy anyway, Id rather a looser fit than too tight. It depends what you prefer and how loose or tight ftting it is on you.
