Shoes for job interview

I've got an interview for a leadership position in education. I've bought a trouser suit from phase8 to wear. A very stylish friend said I could wear smart white trainers with it but I'm not sure. Any thoughts?

Definitely no white trainers. Or trainers of any kind. Smart shoes or boots, can be flat and comfy but in a leadership position when you need to lead by example being smart is rule 1 I'd say! Good luck.

Don't wear trainers for a school interview.

They may be on the dress code at some primary schools but i still would not wear them to an interview and many schools staff are not permitted to wear them including all the secondaries I've worked in.

What's the role -is it non teaching?

I wouldn’t risk the trainers for interview but once in post, depending on the school, they may absolutely be okay. Do you have any other footwear options? A chunky loafer?

I've bought some black heels so I think I'll go with those. It's a non teaching role.

At the moment I wear trainers when teaching. But I teach very young children so I'm not used to dressing smartly

Chunky heeled loafers are my current work shoe of choice ( not education btw). Heel heels eg stiletto type are quite dated now , but better than white trainers.
