Peeling lips but not dry

I've noticed my lips are peeling but they're not cracked or dry at all. It's on the bits that meet when my mouth is closed. I'm late 50s, is it an age thing? I've only noticed a couple of times it in the last few weeks. Do I need to review start my lipcare?

It might be the weather. I’m prone to this and they are particularly peely at the moment.

Going to sound weird but try putting savlon on and leave overnight.

Could it be angular cheilitis?
I find Bepanthen really helps.

I'm glad it's not just me @Craftymam , that does sound weird with the savlon but I'll give it a go.

I don't think it's that @thistimelastweek, it's not really in the corners and not sore.

Thank you both.

Have you been using retinol or other tret products? This happened to me when I used tret too often. It healed when I stopped.

Lightbulb moment!

I have dry lips in the corners and recently started using retinol. I will have to be a bit more careful with my application.
Thanks for this.

I get this when the weather turns and the heating comes on regularly.

they don’t feel dry but I think when the heat is on the air is dryer and my lips start to peel.

Lipsink · 13/11/2024 10:39

It could well be that @Ginkypig, the timing fits.

@TheDandyLion I haven't used any retinol or tret products, to my knowledge. I'm using the same things I have been for years.

I've got a nice lipsalve thing that I've put on today and will get some savlon with my next shop.

Thank you all.

Angular stomatitis.

@Lipsink i try to use lip balm more frequently but I hate the way it feels so obviously don’t as much as I should but maybe you should try it as while they don’t feel dry they well might be considering they are peeling.
