Heels on night out

TomAllenWife · 12/11/2024 12:49

Just had a conversation with my much younger sister about outfits for a night out this weekend

She literally recoiled when I complained about walking round in heels

According to her everyone goes out in trainers or flats EVEN ON A WEEKEND

😂😂 is this a thing now? Am I officially old?

I think the younger lot do but I've got a black tie event this weekend so I'll be wearing heels with my dress, I don't think trainers or flats would pass 😂😂 admittedly I do prefer comfy footwear these days and I am dreading wearing heels but hopefully it will be a lot of sitting down than standing and walking around too much.
And then launching said heels off the minute it's finished.

This has been increasingly the case for years, how have you managed not to notice? It’s only the most determinedly glamorous who stick it out in heels, now. They keep announcing that heels are back, but I think most women are happy to see the back of them.

Its true, either trainers, chunky flats or chunky low heeled shoes. You can spot a millennial a mile off these days stumbling around in stilettos 😂

StarlightLady · 12/11/2024 15:07

I don’t own a pair of heels.

KoalaCalledKevin · 12/11/2024 15:21

By heels do you mean stilettos, or just any shoe with a heel?

People on here always say no one wears heels, but I see heeled boots all the time.

TheRestIsEntertainment · 12/11/2024 15:25

I'm not sure the shops have got the memo... There are heels galore for sale.

I think the range of glitzy/fancy flats has got a bit more varied since I were a lass, I would agree. I have to say the last time I wore sparkly flats on a night out they were every bit as uncomfortable as heels normally are.

ARichtGoodDram · 12/11/2024 15:26

It totally depends. I've twin girls in their early 20s. One doesn't own a pair of heels. The other lives in flats day to day but wears heels on a night out.

Their friends vary as well.

Yes they all wear flat trainers I feel so old my last night out was in heels probably 2 years ago now and all the younger people were in flats very easy to spot the older from the young . Just feels wrong even though I can't walk in heels lol

TomAllenWife · 12/11/2024 19:41

Well I can't walk in heels, particularly around the streets & in and out of pubs which is what it'll be

I have some M&S leopard print flats wondering if I can get away with them?

Depends, one of my DD's does wear heels with smarter outfits, flats for pubs though. Me, dm's usually and my mother gives me griefGrin
