What would you wear to an 80th birthday house party?

It’s not the kind of event that I’d usually buy something new for but most of my clothes are in storage and I’ve recently lost some weight so only really have jeans and jumper dresses to hand.

I don’t imagine it will be very dressy but something smart would be good. I’m a size 18, big boobs so nothing high necked and not too expensive as I’m hoping to not fit in it long!

I have got a lovely long satin, pleated skirt in a minky-silver or burgundy that I could wear but don’t have a suitable top (not black please).

These are the skirts. I’m 5ft 3in so they’re longer on me.

I’m going to an 80th birthday party of a close friend and I a wearing this in black. It unlike anything else I have but I love it.

Thank you, I’m sure you’ll look great and it’s perfect for the occasion. Unfortunately black drains me (I’m blonde and pale) and even though I’m bigger I need something to accentuate my (high) waist or I just look like a weeble.

I’d maybe get a pastel pink jumper, lightweight, and wear with either of the skirts.

That would suit me and I like pink but everything seems to be crew necked or baggy which won’t work. Have you seen anything?

Love the skirts... black can be very draining- navy would work with the. Red skirt well. I would go for a more v neck top or jumper with a nice necklace

I like this but worry it could look a little busy and frumpy.

Yes that sounds lovely and like it should be easy to find but I’m finding them quite elusive!

I used to have a boat neck top with a small amount of silver embellishment on the neckline, which would have been perfect.

Usually people suggest wrap too but i don’t find they work as they either come up too high or I need a camisole underneath which then looks frumpy. As my waist is high it looks like there’s too much going on in a small space as the waistband of the skirt is only an inch or two below my boobs.

How glam is the 80 yr old?😄

Popsy have some nice dresses at the moment. They seem to work well for larger ladies and they look suitable for a house party for the more mature set.

He’s not at all glam 😂, he’s the kind of man that wears slacks.

I’ve seen this on Pinterest which I love. Has anyone seen a similar cardigan. The ones I can see with google lens are all more chunky with big buttons. It looks sezanne-ish but I hear their cardigans are scratchy and I don’t think it would arrive in time.

Otherwise I was looking at this jumper to wear with the grey skirt, but a bra might be an issue.
