What to wear for work Christmas lunch, middle of the day? I live in jeans so would like a dress maybe or skirt/top but aiming not too glittery as daytime but want to a look a bit “dressy”. Help 😐

Here you go …

Massimo Dutti

You haven’t given your size, or budget - but work Christmas does are essentially what velvet exists for nowadays. And if you choose co-ords you can wear the jacket and trousers separately with your jeans or a cosy jumper all winter long.

Alternatively -

Plümo

has totally non-glittery clothes in mildly extravagant and celebratory shapes. This jacket would make plain clothes look dressed - but have a look at everything else.

If it’s a lunch I’d focus on your top half as that’s people will be looking at. You can easily convert your normal look to more dressy by switching jeans to velvet trousers and wearing a top or jumper with some kind of embellishment. This one is quite nice, expensive but plenty of things like this around.

Or just wear a normal jumper with a Xmas brooch or earrings, or just more statementy jewellery than usual. I think it’s best to try and stick to your own style even at Xmas as those are the things you will get wear from year on year.

I'll be wearing a nice top and jeans this year. I hate the work Christmas lunch but go. Always the first to leave!

Thanks for all the tips, especially re velvet and focusing on the top half. Apologies for the scant details…Approx 5ft 3 and a size 10-12, budget probably max £120.
