Bunions- nice shoes needed!

Bigminnie1 · 09/11/2024 11:04

I have bunions... I usually live in trainers or Docs so it's not such an issue but I really want a nice pair of kitten heels to wear with fancy dresses.

I just don't want to spend a fortune as I will rarely wear them but I have a wedding coming up.

Can anyone help please- thank you.

Have a look at Gabor. They have some shoes with a heel and are generally comfortable

Thanks - I had a look at Gabor and they aren't for me.

If you get a neutral colour it might be worth your while spending a bit more and having them as your go to shoes for occasions. People often mention esska on here.

Sole bliss are meant to be good as well as Sargasso and Grey. But very expensive.

Have you looked on the Simply Be website, they have some ok wide fit shoes.
Or put in the search on eBay for example.

I've looked through the web sites for bunion fit shoes but the problem is they are assuming your whole foot is wide. They are also absurdly expensive.
With bunions only the forefoot is wide and getting really wide shoes means your heel and the back half of your foot will be slipping all over the place unless there is a heel strap like a sandal.
For kitten heeled shoes you will need something that has a stretchy top, a back strap or buy normal ones and take them down to the cobblers to have them put in the stretcher (forefoot only) they should fit then.
I get mine stretched for my awkward feet but they can only stretch leather not synthetic materials.

I have a pair of Sole Bliss flats, and they are almost as comfortable as Fitflop shoes. Yes expensive, but painful feet are awful!

I have this problem. My feet are very narrow but I want a wide toe box.

Thanks everyone- luckily my feet are quite wide too... let's say, they aren't my best feature Grin

@Gettingbysomehow did you ever look at barefoot shoes? I like a wide toe box but I have narrow feet. I wear camper peu and camper right mostly. And a few barefoot brands for trainers and walking shoes.

Thank you- looking for a fancier shoe to wear.

Can j jump on and ask how people find fitflops? Having really trouble with pain at the moment and desperate to find some well fitting shoes!

Yes but I cant wear flat shoes sadly for various reasons. My left foot is 5.5 E and my right foot is 5 EE with a bunion. Its just difficult finding a 5 and a half wide fit without paying a fortune and buying online is no good zi have to try them on. I usually go to Clarkes or Hotters but I dont like shoes that look grannyish even though Im in my 60s I want to look good.

Thanks for this idea as I found a super wide pair on Simply Be.
