Dress help - black tie wedding reception

I would love some help please. I really like this dress from Izabel London but need a 14 and it is sold out everywhere. Can anyone help me find something similar? Budget under £100, evening wedding reception, large venue central London, black tie dress code. I'm 50, 5'7", size 14, would like sleeves of some sort, midi to maxi length, wrap dresses do not suit me.

I don’t know what to expect of the wedding reception to be honest as I barely know the bride and groom (DH's work colleagues). Al I know is it is being held in a very grand venue with hundreds of guests.

Very grand venue and black tie dress code suggests floor length evening wear to me. What do you think of the suggestions posted on this thread?

Try Scarlett and Jo (available through next), monsoon or phase 8 perhaps. Generally for black tie opt for at least 3/4 length, floor length is preferable but hard if you aren't 5'10 as it means alterations, choose a plain colour rather than pattern generally though a thread eg gold or silver within a black or navy works. My top tip for easy to wear and comfortable is a dress which is essentially a stretch jersey but overlayed with lace, you look really smart but it's comfortable, fits the larger women's curves and mine is machine washable - i always get compliments but it's just so not stiff and uncomfortable unlike my other gowns

Oh and if hundreds of guests, are they Asian by any chance? If so go for any colour but red, and means brighter and gaudier than you normally would opt for, no need to go for Asian design but have fun and look amazing.

A sequinned micro mini dress is very definitely not suitable for a colleague’s black tie wedding 😂

@mitogoshigg yes, big Asian wedding. Someone i know said similar, "go for it, you can't be underdressed." I looked at Scarlett and Jo but the dress styles look like they are for larger busts. I think I will have to place a few orders and try a load of styles on.

As we have to travel to the venue, probably by train and tube, I am also worrying about shoes as I am not a heels person normally. Maxi dresses from places like Coast and Phase Eight are often far too long.

Where is the wedding taking place, OP? You mention a large venue in Central London and I was wondering whether it might be at one of the well-known hotels such as the Savoy.

Re the dress, I see that it's available in a 12 and reviews say that it comes up quite large.

They give the exact measurements for each size on the website and I was wondering whether the 12 might fit you.

It sounds as though you are going to be travelling some distance to get there - it might be worth arriving the day before and staying locally.
