What did they do to my nails?!

Recently went in a nail salon I’ve never used before and asked for plain old nail polish.

As my nails have grown out and I’ve removed their polish and all of my nails have a single distinct curved dent (in the same shape as the nail) in them. definitely damaged my nails but not sure how. What could have done this? Never had it before.

Yikes that’s not good.

I know that picking at my thumbnail cuticles where they meet the nail causes ridges in the nail. So I would guess they did some damage to your cuticle, maybe overtrimmed or pushed too hard with cuticle stick. And that is reflected in a ridge.

@minipie maybe it is that then, it’s also a bit annoying as the dent is showing up now under new nail polish as well. Hopefully they’ll hurry up and grow out quickly.

Did they use the little electric whirring thing to tidy your cuticles? I had that once and it left grooves parallel with the cuticles, took a few months to grow out, I'd never go back to that salon again.

Did they use an electric tool for cuticle work?

Or rough up your nail with a file or buffer, so the polish adheres better?

@ExquisiteIyDesigned yes they did use that tool it must be that then. @WickedlyCharmed i usually get my nails filed/buffered but never had this before. This salon seemed dodgy though, wish I had just walked out now as soon as I felt something was off.
