Luis Vuitton clothes sizes

Do they run true to size? I've seen a lovely 2nd hand skirt on a preloved website but short of going into Selfridges and pretending I can afford their clothes and trying something on, I have no idea whether it will fit.

Tiny. Italian sizing despite French make so a 38 is a 6, etc.

Ask for measurements.

It's advertised as a size 12, French size 40

They're true to size... which means they won't be your h&m or m&s size. I'm a uk8 and take FR36. Sometimes the bust area is too small and I have to go for FR38.

What does true to size mean in that context?

H & M never fits me but I tend to be about a 12 in M & S (although the waistband is a bit too big but I have a tummy).

In All Saints I'm a 12 on top or an M but I have the odd dress that is a 10. My Paige dress is 12 (US size 8) Max Mara coat is a 10 as the shoulders were too big on the 12. Levi/Paige jeans I am 29 inch waist.

Other brands I wear a lot are Reiss, Hobbs & Tommy HIlfiger where I am a 12 or a Medium.

Ask for measurements - waist and hip - it's the only way to be certain. Any decent seller will happily provide these.

Edited to add that true to size means true to designer size rather than M&S/high street. High street tend to run large to size, designer either true to size or on the smaller size. LV is French so I'd err to the side of caution and be prepared that it will probably come up smaller.

PS. MaxMara runs large to size. A lot of US clothing runs large, I find Paige does.
