Just wanting honest opinions on Joanie clothing please? Are they true to size in your experience?
The online reviews seem to be an even balance of negative & positive so they're no use! Have searched Mumsnet but not found much about them within the past 5 years.

I absolutely love a couple of dresses on there but I'm a mostly broke lone parent and always have to buy two sizes of everything to try on; So I'll have to fork out for 4 just to keep 2!

Also, is there any stretch to the materials of the viscose dresses? It says the ones I like are 100% viscose but I have some viscose that is stretchy and some that isn't. Once you get to my size, if it ain't stretchy it ain't comfy! 😆

I figured it was worth a quick thread, just in case.

On the small side IMO, but realistically that probably just means true to size and I’ve got fatter.

Always good quality! Can’t comment on the stretch as not bought those items.

@WhatASadLittleLifeJayne 😆 Thanks!
I wish I was in the financial position to be able to just buy loads of things to try on, without breaking myself! Even my cc doesn't have enough on it.
As I'm plus size though, finding clothes in my size that I also LOVE is so bloody rare.

I’ve got a nice shirt from them that is cotton that was £2:50 in a charity shop. I recently tried on a dress from them which I can’t say I was impressed with. It was lined I believe but other than that I really couldn’t understand what the fuss was about.

Cardigans and jumpers seem true to size but dresses seem to lean a little small in my experience.

Quality is a mixed bag imo, some horrible polyester stuff and some really nice quality bits.

ShaunaSadeki · 03/11/2024 11:51

Can you order via Klarna and pay in 30 days? that is how I get around having to order two sizes.

I have a Laura Ashley X Joanie dress that is brilliant quality and possibly on the large size bit that may just be the oversized fit design.

Mumteedum · 03/11/2024 12:00

I've got two jumpers from there and a cotton dress I got for a wedding which are really nice quality. Oh and a pinafore dress. I'd say sizing is accurate.

I'm not sure I'd buy anything polyester or viscose.

Possibly a bit of a mixed bag but pieces I have bought I've been happy with.

I swing between 2 sizes a lot so use klarna. It's a good way to keep track of returns as well

blackcatsblackcats · 03/11/2024 12:09

I find their sizes wildly unpredictable and often need to go 2 sizes down so different to PP. I will only buy their stuff from Vinted as a result.

100% viscose won't have any significant stretch to it any more than 100% cotton or silk has. It would a small %age of elastane to give it stretch.

I use Zilch. It's like Klarna but you can use it quite literally anywhere that accepts Mastercard. Lets you pay in 4 instalments.
(If anyone wants a referral code for a discount, let me know!)

I think I'm going to leave it. Joanie does have 25% off at the moment but I'll be gutted if neither of them fit and will have to pay returns too no doubt

Ah but I have two viscose items which do have significant stretch to them. It's a new type of viscose apparently.
However it seems that these dresses don't have any stretch. What a shame!

I dont think many of the dresses have much stretch (well, I have a couple of Joanie jumper dresses....they stretch!). Also they are true to size, if you are between sizes then I would size up.
Although if something if oversized its usually a very generous fit.
