Where are all the dresses?

I'm not sure if it's the fashions at the moment or if I'm looking in the wrong places but I'm struggling to find nice day dresses this autumn! I normally like a mini/just above the knee dress but don't mind a bit longer if the proportions are right. I'm 5 ft5, size 14ish, looking for long sleeves but not balloon type sleeves as I've got short arms. Nothing too clingy or woolly as I'm menopausal. V neck preferably. Thick jersey ideally, plain and patterns welcome but not crazy about floral. I've tried h&m, New Look, Matalan, looked online at M&S and Next, no luck. H&M usually come up trumps but for some reason either have summer type dresses or very thick knitted ones, nothing in between.
I'm thinking I need to expand my normal shops and look elsewhere but where? Suggestions would be great. Anybody find anything that fits this criteria recently or can recommend a brand?

Thank you for the suggestion, I've taken a look but honestly nothing appealing to me there, and majority are either short sleeved or floral 😬

Land's End? White stuff?

Britpopbaby · 03/11/2024 11:21

Boden
Fat Face
White Stuff
John Lewis’ own brands

Boden have loads of dresses like you describe!

weareallcats · 03/11/2024 13:24

Have you looked on Vinted? I’ve got a few BNWT dresses on there recently.

hellswelshy · 03/11/2024 15:20

Boden not my thing normally but I'll take a look. Popped into White Stuff today, all a bit meh pattern wise, thin fabric. I think I'm looking for fairly simple non sack like shaped dresses, not masses of fabric, modern. I am wearing a faux wrap dress today, knee length, animal print from H&M about 6 plus years ago. Doesn't need to hugely expensive. That said I saw a nice Hush dress that, spotted, like the shape, but it was £100!?

Have you had a look at Uniqlo

henlake7 · 03/11/2024 16:01

Popsy are comfy, I have several of their dresses (not at all trendy I know but some of the patterns are fun!).
Im also still wearing my summer dresses. A long sleeved top underneath a short sleeved dress can look quite cool, add some thick tights, chunky boots and you are good to go!

I've just had a look at Uniqlo, nothing there that fits the bill unfortunately. Maybe I'm looking for something that doesn't exist currently?!

There are loads of that style of Hush dress on Vinted. I got one for £5 the other week.
