This thread has made me realise something I've never really clocked before: that my casual wardrobe is generally more expensive than my formal work/ party/ "dressing up" wardrobe, because I tend to buy it new rather than second hand.
I don't buy T shirts second hand because I find them either bobbly or just icky, I CBA trying to find jeans that fit well in a charity shop, I have two elderly North Face coats which I bought new and wear every day in the winter, and I buy my trainers new of course. The only exception is a couple of men's' lambswool sweaters from Save the Children for a tenner each which I've worn to death.
But it's easy to get tailored jackets, wool skirts, mint condition silk blouses, funky dresses, virtually unworn leather court shoes etc, from charity shops, and I can't resist them.
Today is a wfh day so I'm in the world's most boring outfit of M&S jeans, Uniqlo T shirt, M&S jumper, M&S loafers and my student DD's abandoned parka. Probably about 130 quid in all.
