Warm and waterproof coat?

My current seasalt coat is looking battered and is now too big for me.

I need to replace it but really struggling to find one that’s warm and waterproof. Even my seasalt one is a bit thin for my liking.

I’m currently between a 16 & 14 and plan to lose more weight so don’t want to spend a fortune. It also needs to look fairly smart as I’ve just started a new job as a senior leader in an outdoor based school so need to be warm and dry but not scruffy.

Any help greatly appreciated!

Thanks

Because you said outdoor based school, m&m do a trespass 3/4 coat for £40, supposed to be £120. It's the warmest coat I've ever owned and It looks good too

I saw a North Ridge coat that was waterproof and insulated. Or perhaps a Peter Storm (tend to be alot cheaper than the North Face/Rab coats.).

You could look at Craghoppers - if in the sale you could get a bargain.

@Devilsmommy is it the Audrina? That looks pretty nice to me and a good price!

Yes that's the one. It's amazing just how warm it keeps you. I've got it in the navy blue and it's lovely 🤩

@Devilsmommy do you find the coat true to size...as a 12/14 which should I go for? Looks a bargain!

I'd go for the 14 as it's a bit fitted. I'm a 6/8 with broad shoulders and I got the 10 and it's perfect so definitely 14

Regatta have some lovely waterproof coats and often have sales/discount coats! I got a waterproof parka down from £90 to about £20!

I just bought a really nice one from Craghoppers. In the sale, signed up as a member to get a further discount and 10% off. Feels very warm, not quite as much as the Columbia one it replaced but that was almost too warm.

Lands End Squall coats.

I just bought this @Downing4packsofharibo . I got 30% off through Discounts for teachers. It's waterproof and even has a tog rating! I haven't worn it yet as it hasn't been cold enough but plan on wearing it for dog walking and when I'm on playground duty. I ordered the long so it goes way below the knee (I'm 5ft 7). It's very roomy.

I don't know which Seasalt coat you have, but I got the Janelle knee length and it's very warm and waterproof. It's like wearing a massive duvet (but doesn't look like a puffy nightmare). It's actually way too warm for me to wear at the moment, I wore it to Bonfire Night this evening and had to take it off!

Devilsmommy · 02/11/2024 21:36

That's the exact coat I mentioned at the beginning of the thread. Gutted for you paying full whack for it. Though it's worth it definitely 😁

SilverGlitterBaubles · 02/11/2024 21:47

Looks like a bargain. I am looking at the grey/ platinum one, has anyone seen this one yet?
