1920’s student outfit that can be worn again

My niece has a Winter ball coming and although I’m happy to splurge on her she wants something that she will wear again. Any ideas? She’s not usually an over the top dresser more goth ☹️

Maybe Google Dark Academia for inspiration - should be lots on Pinterest too. I’d be thinking a long skirt with a high necked blouse and flat laced boots.

Budget? Colours?
Funnily, I asked a similar question recently, but not for a student ball, so my ideas might be completely wrong for a younger person. She could always get a general dress, and make it 1920's with accessories- feather head band, cigarette holder, long gloves, seamed tights etc.
Is it a flapper type dress she is after? Lots on vinted or ebay. Some are more 'dress up' style though, so wouldn't last multiple nights out. Romans also have some at the moment https://www.roman.co.uk/search?q=flapper

If she wants a more glamourous, ankle length gown, velvet is wintery. I'd also look at ebay/vinted. Otherwise https://www.marksandspencer.com/velvet-cowl-neck-maxi-tea-dress/p/clp23014813?prevPage=srp#intid=pid_pg1pip48g4r11c4|prodflag_New

I don’t think she wants a traditional flapper as she won’t wear it again she’s a 12 and I would say not that feminine she sounds like she smokes 20 fags but never touches them😀

Would she feel more comfortable in a shirt and trousers with braces and brogues perhaps?
