Would you like to see the return of Topshop to physical stores and a return to its past glory?

I’ve just been reading about the developments in the ownership of Topshop. I would love to see it return to the high street and produce things like what I buy now on the second hand market.

Yes, I miss going to a variety of high street stores.

RachelNoire · 28/10/2024 18:35

I’d love to be able to shop on a busy high street again. I hate online shopping and the inevitable returns. Joyless.

GoldCat255 · 28/10/2024 18:37

It was on my favourite shops. So yes, I would.

RickyBobbysKFC · 28/10/2024 18:53

Absolutely! Not sure if my bum would fit into anything nowadays though! Topshop was my absolute favourite place to shop.

RickyBobbysKFC · 28/10/2024 18:54

Just adding that I thought it was the coolest place to get clothes from. I’m having strong nostalgia pangs now!

Britpopbaby · 28/10/2024 18:55

The quality of old Topshop pieces that I have seen in charity shops has far outweighed the quality of what is considered top end high street now.it would be nice to see the return of good quality clothing. Here is the article if anyone else wants to read it https://www.voguebusiness.com/story/consumers/can-topshop-really-be-revived

Can Topshop really be revived?

Topshop’s new majority owners have hinted at a return to physical retail, making millennials across the UK extremely happy. But can the brand return to its past glory in today’s retail climate?

Gosh yes! I adored Top Shop back in the day.

Yes, I miss going to a variety of high street stores.

I miss BHS. They stocked a wide variety of middle-range women's clothing, and some good mens's stuff too. And sheets, towels, and lighting.

pasta · 28/10/2024 18:59

Absolutely. But I can't imagine it would ever be able to produce quality like it did in the 90s/early noughties

Nitgel · 28/10/2024 18:59

I miss topshop too. Asos topshop.is bad quality

Pukeyproblem · 28/10/2024 19:02

Yes absolutely, with the same playlists from 15 years ago for added nostalgia

CrispyCrumpets · 28/10/2024 19:04

I did like Topshop and am still wearing some if it. If it's been sold and resold I don't know if it would still be the same Topshop though.

Try Bonmarche. Some clothes are dowdy, but they’re good for basics, and clothes seem to wear well.

OvaHere · 28/10/2024 20:30

I had the odd Topshop item in the 90s but it was always a bit too expensive for me and by the time I could afford it I'd aged out of it a bit.

WaneyEdge · 28/10/2024 20:43

Not really, as I have big thighs I couldn’t fit into their stuff very often when I was younger. No chance now.

AnyFucker · 28/10/2024 20:46

Yes, please

GroovyChick87 · 28/10/2024 20:47

I don't think I've ever bought anything from Topshop. It was a bit too trendy and expensive for me. I bought most of my clothes from the likes of New Look, Storm and Primark in my late teens/ early 20s.

HarkALark · 28/10/2024 20:52

Oh gosh, I would love it. I'm far too hefty these days but I was talking to a friend earlier about how much I just used to love taking a day to myself, shlepping round the shops all day, having lunch and popping in and out of book stores and record shops. Glory days!

Tomatocutwithazigzagedge · 28/10/2024 21:11

I miss Miss Selfridge stores. Was the absolute perfect weekend, shopping in Swansea with my birthday or Christmas money as an older teen.

Top shop used to do THE best maternity jeans if I recall.

Entertainmentcentral · 28/10/2024 21:12

Wasn't it basically New Look?

Screamingabdabz · 28/10/2024 21:26

I think River Island could’ve been its natural successor if they didn’t put stupid RI logos on everything and gave it a bit more edge.

LonelyMom123 · 28/10/2024 21:35

My DD (17) wears some of my moto jeans from the early 2000s as they are still in good condition but too small for me these days!

coxesorangepippin · 28/10/2024 21:36

Yes but I think there will be far fewer locations

Only in major cities

sprigatito · 28/10/2024 21:38

Nah, online shopping is here to stay and I was thoroughly fed up with the same old soulless chain stores in every town anyway. Topshop can knob off. I'd like to see town centres evolve to meet other existing needs - independent shops, cafes and eateries with outside seating, galleries, museums and gathering places. That would require a bit of intelligence and investment though, so I won't hold my breath.

AngryLikeHades · 28/10/2024 21:40

Topshop makeup was amazing. I'm talking about the one that was supposedly manufactured by Mac.
I still have alot of it. It's extremely good quality! Does anyone else know what I'm talking about?
