Dresses and swimsuits for the long of torso

I need a dress for a December wedding. I am long in the torso and dress waists usually sit too high, above my waist, so not very flattering. I've ordered a couple from Long Tall Sally but where else can I look?

Also want a few sports type one piece swimsuits. I've got Speedo ones but too short in the body.

I'm 62, 5'8", reasonable figure but arms not good.

Have you considered a tankini, so the top and bottoms are separate?

I got some from Pour Moi, and got high waisted bottoms.

I also find that many stores have tall ranges online, which aren’t available in shops.

i Have the same problem with swimsuits. I don’t like tankinis as find the top can ride up in the water.
next do a range of tall swimsuits online that you could try.

I don’t know what size you are but Yours has tall swimsuits 14+

for swimwear try halocline.

I think they’re great.

Landsend swimsuits are good. I’m 5 11 and have this one. I like the coverage. I wear it for wild swimming too.

Hello!

These are my problems too.

Swimsuits - Land's End do most of their "Tugless" in a long body version. I have 3. Not cheap, but last for years. If you sign up for emails, it won't be long until you get a discount.

Dresses are trickier. A lot of "tall" ranges just add to the length of the skirts rather than body. I tend to chose unstructured styles, and it's a bit hit n miss, but I have had success with Crew Clothing, Sainsbury's, Jigsaw and Esoirit. Esoirit were actually the best, but sadly they don't sell in tte UK anymore. Phase 8 is worth a look for dressier styles too

For swimsuits Tallboto do long body swimsuits, but are sadly going out of business. You might find a closing down sale bargain. I have never bought anything from them, because they don't do bust support, which I really need.

TheOGCCL · 23/10/2024 23:18

I’m very long bodied and large of chest and find this swimsuit has enough room

I swim in a pool so don’t like to spend too much as they all get destroyed by chlorine.

Dresses I don’t do at all, potentially because of my mismatched figure 😂.

Thanks for the ideas. Lots to investigate here. Anyone have any dress ideas? Can't see anything suitable on the one link above.

I am quite long waisted too. For dresses I would recommend stuff without a fixed waist as if often sits too high. I have a nice silk wrap dress from lk bennett which is my go to wedding outfit. Day to day jumper dresses that skim rather than cling make you look long and lean.

Lovelysummerdays · 25/10/2024 10:33

I think this sort of thing works for me
