Make up help

I want to buy some new base/foundation. I'm not a regular make up wearer but have a couple of things coming up where I'd like to look a little more polished.
I don't know where to start! I don't want anything too heavy, I'm 60 with reasonable skin, but have baggy eyes.
I'd like to go to a store and have a make up artist try things on me, so which brands would you recommend I look at please? Don't mind spending a bit if it looks good! Thanks.

MAC. Go and make an appointment at a counter and they can give you a lesson and show you how to use different products etc. I do it every couple of years and it’s brilliant. I’ve learnt so much and it’s great for techniques to get the effects you want. You can buy some or all of the things they use and the actual lesson is free. Just tell them you want a fabulous base natural looking or whatever you’re after. My mum is 70 and also loves MAC. Does lessons now and then too!!
