Now have mental image of @Maireas wirh a bendy knife trying to cut a steak 😆

I'm a vegetarian! I can mush up my food! 😁

Sorry but that menu sounds vile. I only like really plain food. I do love my puds but ice cream made with pineapple weed?!
I’d never make a royal.

Actually I think that the dessert was mistranslated in a previous post

According to SVT (Sweden's BBC) the dessert was

"Till dessert blir det variation på svenska äpplen; terrine på karamelliserade Fridaäpplen tillsammans med brynt smörkaka på jordmandel smaksatt med granskott, kräm på rosenkvitten och tunt skivade äpplen med kamomill. Det hela serveras med en glass på gatkamomill och punsch."

Which translates as:
For dessert there will be a variation on Swedish apples; terrine on caramelized Frida apples together with browned butter cake of ground almonds flavored with fir shoots, cream on rose quince and thinly sliced apples with chamomile. The whole thing is served with an ice cream of street chamomile and punch.

I think "Fir (pine tree) shoots" has been incorrectly translated as Pineapple weeds - but the Swedish word for pineapple is ananas which doesn't appear in the Swedish version.

Choux · 10/12/2024 22:02

I added the menu but I got it from the Nobel website who mistranslated chamomile to pineapple weed. There are more photos of the food and preparation as well.

That actually sounds delicious, @Lunde , and quite manageable with gold cutlery.

Actually having now looked at several botanical sites - wild chamomile is sometimes called pineapple weed. Although I think wild chamomile sounds a lot better on a menu.

Papergirl1968 · 10/12/2024 22:35

Even so, I’d eat very little of that menu and be going through a Maccies drive through on the way home in my tiara and evening gown! 👑

Lunde · 10/12/2024 22:36

So back to the style at the Nobel banquet

Queen Sylvia - a miss for me didn't like the extra fabric on the front especially as it crumpled*

CPV - liked her dress the deep purple suits her*

Princess Madeleine - really good look tonight - the dress, the colour and the tiara. She does eveningwear really well.

Princess Sofia - liked the top part of her dress as it drew the eye upwards. Not easy to find eveningwear when 7 months pregnant.

*wondering if QS and CPV had to change their outfits at the last minute because of being officially head mourners.

Choux · 10/12/2024 22:48

Victoria's dress is actually paler than it looks on stage. There's a paler skirt with a darker over skirt and beading on the top half. A proper gown - I love it.

Silvia's sticky out bit did look crumpled and here she has to put her hand underneath it for the photo. It's just odd.

No one is wearing a necklace. Is this part of the scaling back due to Birgitta's death or was no one planning a necklace anyway?

Love her purply gown, it's very ethereal.

Papergirl1968 · 11/12/2024 10:29

I do like Victoria’s gown. Silvia’s is awful though.

I love the fact that Victoria's dress seems to change colour/shimmer depending on the lighting.

The Swedish tabloid fashion "experts" are clutching their pearls over Victoria and Madeleine's "etiquette breach". Apparently you are not meant to wear the sash over bare skin. However I'm pretty sure it has been done before in the past decade. Perhaps the senior royal women have decided that it's time for some new etiquette.

Really? The late Queen Elizabeth did it many times when she was younger 🤷‍♀️

I agree that CPV’s dress is lovely but I have no idea what’s going on with Sylvia’s “front bustle” 😆

dutch royals also had their tiaras out last night. both ladies looking lovely. I particularly like how Max's order chain thingy matches the neckline of her dress. So often they look really clumsy on top of the dress.

Amalia, like Max, always looks like she would be great fun to meet. And she looks great in that dress, too.

FabulousPharmacyst · 11/12/2024 15:11

New tiara alert 🚨
Amalia seems to have acquired some new head bling.

Sidebeforeself · 11/12/2024 15:42

That’s from Claires Accessories I bet

The main course looks very ... um ... beige

Did I see in the pictures of the food guests passing the vegetable plates around? Seems a bit weird to have "family style" at such a formal banquet!

Pallisers · 11/12/2024 16:15

I know the laureate who went in with Princess Sofia!

Having seen the official menu pictures - I think that the sharing beige vegetable platter was meant to be part of the artistic effect and designed to look like a winter wreath. Obviously it didn't look pretty when several people had dug around in it.

The Swedish tabloids remain outraged that "barley porridge" was served at the Nobel banquet and are still going on about it today (from a country that eats porridge at every opportunity even the famous Christmas "Santa Porridge")

Max looks amazing here - I love the red, and the jewels!

Maireas · 11/12/2024 16:35

Max does look great, I'm not sure about Amelia's hair, nor the overall look.

Max looks really festive in the red dress.
