Is it too soon for velvet?

Have just bought my Christmas party dress and it’s a lovely burgundy velvet. I have a 40th this Friday that I want to wear it to…too soon or crack on?

I say crack on and wear it.
But then I think fashion rules are bunkum.

Definitely wear it. Burgundy and velvet is perfect for all of autumn and winter. I'm so glad when velvet season rolls around!

Why do you think of velvet as a winter (or specifically Christmas) thing?

I wear my velvet jacket at any time, weather depending. As long as the temperature allows, go for it.
