Sudden excess sebum on scalp

For last 6 weeks I've had an awful build up of sebum on my scalp, it's itchy and sore, my hair feels constantly greasy. I didn't change my hair care to cause it.
I have tried ogx apple cider vinegar shampoo to shift it, washing every day, not conditioning and it's so so uncomfortable. I'm embarrassed to go to hairdressers and feel gp would think I'm mad, anyone know what's causing this? My hair feels almost slimy/sticky and the end are becoming damaged. My face is also really greasy too, I think as a side effect of my hair.

Mine was the same. I tried tea tree shampoo from the body shop. It helped, but it is too strong to use every time.

Sounds like Seborrheic dermatitis , you need a specialist shampoo like Nizoral which you can buy from a chemist

I have it, during bad flares I use the Nizoral and then use Head and shoulders to keep it at bay. I also have a cream from the gp for my face - Daktacort , which as far as I know is prescription only

Boots do their own brand of Nixoral. Just ask for ketoconazole shampoo behind the pharmacist counter. You can leave it on for 5 mins or so before washing out.
