Handbag with compartments

Hoping someone can point me in the right direction. I'd like to buy my mum a handbag (black/brown) but her requirement is it needs a lot of compartments.

To give you an idea - she carries her insulin purse, wallet, hairbrush, glasses, sunglasses, a small hand towel, phone and car keys - but in separate compartments.

Budget is £200 and mum is 70 years old. Does a bag like what I'm describing exist?

You can buy bag organiser’s or inserts www.amazon.co.uk/Handbag-Organiser-Insert-Cosmetic-Detachable/dp/B09KRTSSJZ/ref=asc_df_B09KRTSSJZ/ that’s one I found on first Google search. The more upmarket brands might do them as well. You’re more likely to find a bag she likes and then add something like this in.

I did think about that and suggested it to her. But she would rather avoid it. However it's my plan B incase the bag of her dreams doesn't exist. She might just become a fan of inserts - who knows!

I love my Kipling bag. It's nothing but compartments and washable. I don't know how big you want it but I'll try and find my bag.

BakeOffRewatch · 18/10/2024 15:54

Do you know what style she wants? Commuter handbags would be set up that way and you could try searching for “leather commuter tote” or we could recommend brands. What brands does she usually like?

LoafofSellotape · 18/10/2024 15:54

I was going to suggest Kipling too.

Fbondz · 18/10/2024 16:09

@username3678 thanks for the Kipling recco. I might cop that one for myself :) my mum would prefer something more formal though

@BakeOffRewatch she isn't brand conscious at all and she currently carries an unbranded bag that she found at a fair which has so many compartments it makes me dizzy - but definitely needs replacing. She doesn't spend on herself again at all and is happy with anything that's functional.

This has three compartments and is leather.

Comes in black and brown.

BakeOffRewatch · 18/10/2024 16:14

Does she want a tote, a crossbody, a camera bag, a shoulder, a clutch or a handle bag?

Not leather but very practical

Fbondz · 18/10/2024 16:17

@BakeOffRewatch I should have mentioned the style! A tote or a shoulder bag or a handle bag would be apt for her. She would be partial to a tote with handles as well but I'm think I'm already asking too much 😀

@Attelina this is somewhat close. I'll add to my shortlist of 1! Are you familiar with the quality of this brand?

@Attelina I was referring to the leather company bag

Mia Tui bags are good for this and have a nice bright lining so its easy to find things as well

BakeOffRewatch · 18/10/2024 16:40

This one might be too casual a shape. www.johnlewis.com/john-lewis-leather-triple-compartment-shoulder-bag-camel/camel/p110947348

I think I’ve seen the exact handbag your mum would want, each external side of the main handbag compartment has a zip compartment flap that lays flat with lots of organised pockets, great for medications. You just find them in high street and market shops.

I can think of really expensive brands that fit like Anya Hindmarch Labelled collection or Metier but think at £200 for leather and structured shape it’ll need a dig in John Lewis or TK Maxx.

Farrah Leather Tote Bag in MID TAN | White Stuff

Hettie Leather Zip Tote in MID TAN | White Stuff

Hannah Leather Tote Bag in DARK NAVY | White Stuff

These are leather, but they are a bit sort of grainy so you might like to see them for real rather than just in photos.

LoafofSellotape · 18/10/2024 18:49

Radley?

Cornflakelover · 18/10/2024 19:18

Probably not what you want as a lot cheaper and not designer style but Mia Tui bag are exactly what your asking for
I have a few as my every day bags Jenny I think is the name of the one I have with me now they are fab for compartments for everything

they have a key ring holder 3 or for compartments include one zipped one
a water bottle holder section a section for glasses/case

in mine I have my mini iPad 2 phones make up case mulberry large purse phone charger glassed and a few other things
and the inside design means I can always find exactly what I want

even the very small rucksack style bags have compartments 😂

the mini Jenny is a bit smaller

but for what your mum requirements are you can’t beat them

Plus the accessories like coin purse / glasses case are designed to fit nicely in the bags

Jennie

Jennie can be used for many different occasions, its hand luggage size for Ryanair. Easyjet, Jet2 & British Airways. Jennie is a travel handbag that makes a perfect weekend handbag. With the pocket at the back to go over the handles of a suitcase, Jenn...

Cornflakelover · 18/10/2024 19:20

Oh and I have both black the tan brown one and they are lovely

Fbondz · 18/10/2024 20:49

Thank you all for your recommendations!

I'm going to give the Mia Tui a go - thank you @l@CMOTDibbler for the recco and @Cornflakelover your detailed description has been very helpful!

I'm also going to consider a second bag - the John Lewis one and Radley Ivydale. The white stuff bags are gorgeous as well. The only downside (for my mum) is that the three compartment bags usually have one zipped central compartment with 'open' compartments on other side whereas she'd prefer all compartments under one zip. But these are as close to what she would like and they look lovely.
