Dye coming off leather handbag

I bought an Osprey Madden bag in July - it's a big, winter-weight thing so I just treated it with Lord Sheraton leather balsalm and put it away in its cloth bag.

I started using it this month (October). I love the colour and the size and the plain design, but have noticed that the colour is rubbing off on my clothes - eek! What can I do? I guess it's too late to take it back (to an outlet store miles away).

Can anyone help? Thanks. 👜

Contact osprey & ask for their advice. Online has so many different ideas from rubbing with a damp cloth to using hairspray or using the expensive item they're peddling. Apparently it's not uncommon for leather to not take the dye fully

Thank you! Yes, I went down the internet wormhole, but some of them were terrifying...
