Britpop Brunch Help!!

It's my 58th(ouch!) Birthday soon and on the day we're off to a Britpop Brunch. This will consist of an excellent DJ with unlimited food and drinks and much merriment and dancing and probably a bit of Karaoke at some point. Thing is,I haven't a clue what to wear to keep in with the theme. I'm a size 12/14 and 5'2' and open to pretty much anything so long as it's not too tight/outlandish. I'm in the Middle East but we have all the major brands here. Dear Ladies of Mumsnet, please help me find the perfect outfit!

Thank you so much for that! I think the bootcut jeans and band t sounds perfect. It's not til 25th so will start hunting for suitable t shirts.

Ringer t shirt, bootcut jeans and old school trainers or slip dress over a white t shirt with Doc Martens

Oh no! I had a pair of pink leather converse that I bought in late 90's...I donated them last year, they would have been perfect🙄

I still have my Divine Comedy t-shirt from those days. I wore it with jeans, or combats from the army surplus store, and DMs with rainbow laces.

I got one of those Geri Halliwell union jack dresses from Primark about 15 years ago, and turned it up to be nearly as short as hers! Haha. I think I even wore it to work sometimes. But people thought I might be a far right supporter or something so I had to stop? Lol.
So you could wear some version of that, along with a Liam Gallagher style fishtail parka. And buffalo boots! 🥳
Happy birthday btw! X

If I were two stone lighter a la 1995 I would definitely wear 'The' dress and look pretty good in it too I might add😂Absolutely love your outfit suggestion but think with my ahem 'extra baggage' I might stick to the bootcut jeans and band T shirt. Thanks so much for your kind birthday wishes,it's going to be a blast and I can't wait!

Yes my DM days are behind me, I'm into the martini-and-a-kaftan phase of life. Which is definitely a thing.

@Iloveautumnwinterchristmas aw, thank you! I'm sure you could pull it off! Whatever you wear I'm sure you'll look great and have a wonderful time!
I want to come now. Where's that Geri dress, I'm sure it's in the bottom of the laundry hamper crying my name lol? 🤣🤣 X
