I’m going to be wearing this pale khaki/olive dress soon to an occasion. It’s a posh occasion but this is as posh as I get! Which belt looks best? I’m trying not to spend more money if poss!
Thanks 😀

These two belts look nothing alike.

I see one of the best wedding guest dress choices I've seen in long time.

The second one

The first one sends strong martial arts vibes sorry. I would go with the second. Or could you get something cheap from Primark? They generally do quite good belts.

excelledyourself · 13/10/2024 20:19

For me, definitely the one you are wearing in picture 2. The dress sits much better on you than in the first photo.

I prefer the gold animal print belt, but with a matching colour bag.

I don’t like the other look, it’s giving me martial arts vibes.

This, karate or geisha. Love the second look

StarDolphins · 13/10/2024 20:23

I don’t mind looking a bit karate, a ‘don’t mess with me’ vibe is good! Thank you all, I appreciate all the opinions.

I don’t have time to go shopping anywhere at all & I’ve looked on vinted & nothing so I’m going to iron the dress, make sure I haven’t got a bobble on my arm or my jeans in underneath & try it all on again when I’m on my own - I did this between my DD & her friends constantly ringing the bell to come in so it was rushed.

I think it will be the green obi or no belt. Will also keep looking incase any others come up!

I’ve asked my friends…
2prefer the gold animal print
3 prefer the green
& 1 offered an orange belt so obvs thinks they’re both crap🤣

Love the dress.

The green belt looks best.

I have a wide platted bronze belt that would cope with the orange velvet shoes. My first thought was 'Are you local?' 😂

Ooh!! Not near the Peak District?🤔

Just came to say, love your dress, OP! It's great and I also like the colour.

I don't understand why some people are trying to talk OP out of wearing her dress, when she clearly and firmly said she loves it, feels good in it and intends to wear it. She's asking about the belt and really doesn't need to change her dress just because some people don't like it.

And.. (no disrespect to the OP, I'm not wealthy myself and love Vinted!) It's tone-deaf to come on a thread where OP is showing her H&M dress from Vinted (which is beautiful) and saying that she wouldn't want to spend more money on a belt AND show her some absolutely basic raggy baggy black shirt dresses for 800 euros.

As for the belt, the Obi one works, but the greenness is a bit wrong, too bright/vivid, IMO. Maybe the thinner bronze belt would work, from the other photo?

In defence the of the green one, I have high waisted jeans in underneath so it may have made it look not great!

Thank you! I am going to dream tonight of the green obi turning into the colour of the thin bronze one! I bought the green belt from Topshop 20 years! I loved it so much at the time, wore it with everything!

@StarDolphins I took from your response that you understood I liked your dress choice but was offering a few sites for future inspiration - given your stated difficulty in finding anything you like.

It’s awfully disappointing to find posters on a S&B thread attempting to shut down discussion of clothes …

I’m extremely tight & frugal & actually really enjoy finding outfits that I’ve not paid much for so I wouldn’t spend this much but I did like some of those clothes & I did have a good look for inspiration so thank you.

I deliberated for many weeks & nearly wept as I parted with my money for my much loved sovaires & comme de garçons so I would be seriously unwell spending so much on a dress but I can get inspired then get on Vinted!😀

I thought it was obvious CapaciousHag was posting in a "if you like that dress, you might like this for future reference" way, not a "eugh, here's a better dress" way.

I like the first picture with the sash.
You look like a colourful Jedi knight!😃
