I’m liking the scarf and blouse.

Personally I love a slogan top or jumper....I have a ton! Although TBF Im not really a classic, neutrals kind of dresser.

Not so keen on those ones though, they just arent particularly good. Its bugging me why the nature jumper isnt green when the blue sky one is blue.
Also the word honey is in a font that makes it look like a made up word iykwim.

oh, and I dont do 'live, laugh, love' or feminist/gorgeous babe type slogans....they def arent abit of me!

Which Ginsberg? Allen? Robert? Ruth??

The late great Ruth was called Ginsburg.

I am talking about Allen Ginsberg. @HellonHeels

"Ginsberg was a supporter and member of the North American Man/Boy Love Association (NAMBLA), a pedophilia and pederasty advocacy organization in the United States that works to abolish age of consent laws and legalize sexual relations between adults and children".

I hate a slogan

Vaguely interested in the trouser suit

Generally, M&S has improved VASTLY in the last year so if i do an order will chuck in a couple of other things I've had an eye on

Bloody hell! The hero-worshippers don't ever seem to mention that 😱

LibertyCaps · 14/10/2024 13:17

Re the comments on quality, I have a couple of her suits, one cord and one wool, they're excellent, really well cut, good quality fabrics that hang nicely, all finishes well done. I've worn both loads and they still look great. I can't comment on the t-shirts or knits as I don't have any but the suiting is excellent.

KirstenBlest · 14/10/2024 13:35

@ValsCupcakes , she liked the number and the 1970s vibe.

hildabaker · 14/10/2024 14:41

To be honest, I'm another who is underwhelmed by the collection. I agree it looks dated.

Screamingabdabz · 14/10/2024 14:52

Silly jumpers in weird colours and who the F is wearing a pinstripe suit these days? Sigh.

Can none of these retailers just employ designers that make flattering, well-made stuff in nice colours? If I see anything else in garish bright red or stripey mustard or sodding ‘oversized’ I think I’ll just give up!

Floisme · 14/10/2024 14:55

and who the F is wearing a pinstripe suit these days? Sigh.
Sorry to make you sigh but I would. Well OK not the whole suit as I'm retired and have no need for one, but the blazer might work well with some of my jeans.

youheard · 14/10/2024 14:57

Agreed, the blazer and trousers separately could work well

I've never worn a whole trouser suit ... too Tory party conference

ANagsHead · 14/10/2024 15:03

If I see anything else in … stripey mustard

I had to laugh! Honestly, my heart skips a beat when I see anything mustard. Grin I have no idea whether it flatters me, or not - I just like it, and have to resist the urge to click Buy Now whenever it appears on my screen.

But I think I’m safe from the collection under discussion here.

Floisme · 14/10/2024 15:03

I'm afraid trouser suits are far from being just a Tory party crime these days. In fact it's the Labour and Democrat parties who've spoilt them for me.

Anyway I'm going to stop going on about that blazer now as I'd quite like them not to sell out in a nanosecond.

Oh that nails it! It IS Tory MP aiming for fashionable and relatable. There's a shop somewhere with blocky coloured blazer/skirt combos, 'nude' tights and no-nonsense court shoes that should buy up the lot and flog it back to Tory MPs for conference wear.

You're right - it's all female MPs now but the Tories started the rot, ditto the pussy bow blouses that no matter who tries to sell them to me are Mrs Thatcher and look good on no real woman

Floisme · 14/10/2024 15:59

You will never see me defending pussy bows, not on anyone at any time, not even Gillian Anderson in The Fall.

But the trouser suit....if I were really really going to point the finger at who I blame for its transformation from faintly subversive to safe choice for politicians, well then I'm afraid it would be at Angela Merkel, closely followed by Hilary Clinton.

Lucked · 14/10/2024 16:20

I am interested in a few things but I haven’t been able to access my basket on the M&S website since at least Thursday. Not sure if anyone else is having glitches.

LibertyCaps · 14/10/2024 16:27

Oi! Lay off the trouser suits! I love trouser suits, not a pastel coloured 'pant' suit much favoured by politicians.

I've got pinstripe, cord, a Saint Laurent Le Smoking, MaxMara linen, currently in the market for a tweed one with slouchy pleat-front trousers.

There's trouser suits and there's trouser suits...

I'm with you. And also on the look out for Tweedy slouchy trousers. No luck so far.

Floisme · 14/10/2024 16:59

There was a fantastic photo at the recent Christies personal collection exhibition of Vivienne Westwood wearing one of her own slouchy tweedy trouser suits. I don't know who won the bid for it but they're one lucky bugger.

I love the jacket but the trousers are flared and I don't think I'd wear pinstripe. I've just bought a nice navy parka from M & S, really simple, not quilted and you don't need to pull it in with a drawstring. Everything else I've tried has been as awful as usual though, especially the trousers.

Totally agree on the slogan tops. Fine for children, cringe on grown women.

It's all a bit dull isn't it.

WhatNext24 · 14/10/2024 22:38

I am 44, not above a well made slogan jumper (I like the 1970 one) but still wouldn't buy any of this. A 'Honey' top is like something from New Look in the late 90s - I half expected another one that says '99% angel, 1%?'.

Bigcat25 · 15/10/2024 01:22

MounjaroUser · 13/10/2024 17:51

Why the hell would a grown woman want a top with a slogan on it?

Agree. I find these slogans particulary dumb. "Nature" Ok, and, what about it? Embarrassing.

Magpie50 · 15/10/2024 01:44

Well, it looks like MNs has spoken.
Slogan tops are a huge fashion no no and pussy bow blouses make the trendy amongst us heave.

Don't care.....Still going to wear my pussy bow blouses for 70s vibes and my Joanie slogan jumpers.
TBH I'm not bothered about dressing like the masses. I find it all abit plain for me at the moment.

Having said that the collection just isn't very good, is it!?
