Please help me find THE Chelsea boots!!!

Afternoon everyone!

I have been looking for what seems like years for my perfect Chelsea boots and just can’t find exactly what I want! I’ve ended up with a couple of cheap pairs ‘to make do with’ until I find THE pair but I still haven’t found them!

I’m aware I’m fussy but they must be out there somewhere.

Requirements:
Genuine leather
Black
Chunky sole
Maybe slight heel - don’t mind either way on this
Rounded/wider toe-this seems my biggest issue-so many have what I think is a weird narrow shape at the front
Not too low on the ankle
Under £200

These are pretty close, but might be slightly too low on the ankle.

As I said, I know I’m being fussy, but do you maybe own or have you seen somewhere what I’m describing and could point me in the right direction please? I’d be very grateful!

I've had three pairs of these Clarks Orinoco boots (in brown but they do black). Mega comfortable and a nice rounded toe (I have fingers for toes so pointy shoes aren't good for me).

I’m the same as you OP, I need my boots to come up quite high on my ankle!

I have some really nice Polo Ralph Lauren ones I got from John Lewis a few years ago - JL dont sell them anymore but I found on this (Spanish??) website - https://www.esdemarca.com/en/polo-ralph-lauren/-de-piel-corinne-negro-802862731001-3071106.html?

These are v similar actually - https://www.johnlewis.com/john-lewis-poppie-leather-cleated-sole-high-cut-chelsea-boots-black/p111420437

Also like these M&S ones - https://www.marksandspencer.com/leather-chelsea-round-toe-ankle-boots/p/clp60683103

I've got those M&S ones, they're lovely but not chunky. I bought them as my slim pair.

Another vote for Fly Salv boots. I have them in black and brown and I want more!! 😂 They aren’t pointy or narrow at the toe. They have decent grip and my feet have stayed dry when I’ve worn them in the rain (I have waxed them) so they are practical too.

Have you looked at Blundstone boots? They might fit the bill.

Seconded! Excellent boots!

justasoul · 15/10/2024 23:30

OP, if you like DMs but not the yellow stitching, search for ‘mono’ on their website and the ones with black stitching come up (DD has a pair for school shoes and they’re not allowed the yellow stitches…)

For the PP searching on the £60-ish price point, if you’re near a Barbour outlet, I bought a pair from one of them a few weeks ago and they’re the most comfortable boots ever, £63 I paid for them.

toomanyshoes · 16/10/2024 00:10

Another vote for the Ugg Ashton boots. Very similar to the ones you posted from JL. They are the most comfortable boots I have ever owned and they are fabulous quality. Get so many compliments when I wear them

DanielaDressen · 17/10/2024 17:06

So the Shoe The Bear ones which OP linked to have arrived. They look nice on and are comfy in the foot……the top of the boot is a bit higher than my Fly Chelsea boots and kind of dig in front and back when walking. I’m assuming that will soften up?

liveforsummer · 17/10/2024 17:11

The Ugg ones tick all your boxes

Marks and Spencer had these last year, but higher on the ankle than the ones you linked.

Look at Fitflop!

RockaLock · 18/10/2024 09:56

OP, I thought I'd found you the perfect pair when these came up on my instagram feed - round toed, chunky sole, come up a bit higher above the ankle.

And then I saw the price...

I've just ordered the Palmo boot from Dune via JL-I tried them on and they're lovely. Might fit your description?

Ugg bonhams

I used to have a pair of these in Brown. So cosy and I wore them to death. Have you seen them for sale anywhere recently? I didn’t think they made them any more.

The M&S ones are dupes of the Prada boots. Here’s a photo of my mucky ones as can’t find them online but might be available on eBay or Vinted.

Have you had a look on Asos? I found all these chunky sole leather Chelsea boots under £200 - any of these fit the criteria?

Penelope Childers and Fairfax & Favour although they’ll be just over £200.

Blundstone, Reiss and Sezanne will be on budget.

JWhipple · 20/10/2024 12:47

Vegetarian Shoes are mostly made in the uk (by the factory that used to make DMs i think) and last for years. People have them resoled

Not like usual synthetic shoes at all, the materials used look and act like leather.

@JWhipple , OP stated that they needed to be Genuine leather.

Jaehee · 20/10/2024 16:19

My Tamaris leather chelsea boots arrived yesterday and I bloody love them. I got them for £59 with a flash discount thing they were doing. They have a fluffy lining, so comfortable. I think my long and painful search for ankle boots that don't destroy my feet is over.

Hooray! I haven't worn mine outside yet, I'm scared to until I've worn them indoors more since I only have to look at a shoe to get blisters. They don't feel like they'll need breaking in through because of the fluff, and the sole and leather are nice and flexible.

I also have a pair of knee high Tamaris boots which are fab and very comfortable. They're about the only brand that's wide enough in the toe box but slim enough at the heel for me (duck feet).

MDTdottyT · 21/10/2024 14:00

I have a pair of Dr martin Chelsea boots, they are amazing
