‘Le Smoking’ for 14yo DD

Dd is going to a ball (school thing) and she’s not into dresses. She wants to wear a suit. Where can I find a fabulous Le Smoking style outfit for her, that doesn’t just look like she’s wearing school uniform? The dress code is black and gold, so maybe a gold waistcoat or tie or something. This is without an YSL budget, but doesn’t have to be bargain basement.

She’s 5 foot 4 and skinny, so it can be tricky to find clothes with the right proportions.

Closer to Christmas Zara and Mango often do them.

Have a look at Disturbia, if you can get past the gothicness they have some fabulous outfits and are great quality. I recently bought DD they Pinstripe trousers with suspenders, and the Melissa bug collar brooch to jazz up any shirt and she looks great, they do quirky blazers/jackets too she tends to wear a smoky cat eye and burgundy Maybelline Matt lip ink.

She already has some stuff from Disturbia, and I was trying to persuade her that the Slither blazer dress would be perfect, but she says it’s too short. I think she’d look amazing in it, but what do I know! I’ll get her to scroll through their other outfits though.

Ooh that Melissa bug brooch thing is right up her street. I will suggest that.

Last winter Massimo Dutti had some gorgeous black velvet tuxedo jacket and trouser suits—nice viscose and silk blend velvet, too. You could probably find the pieces on Vinted now.

This was the Massimo suit I think. Something like this with gold accessories, and a gold top or camisole underneath would work.

Not sure about the dress shorts. Sadly the blazer dress will still be too short for her - I would have loved it at 14 too!
