How to Avoid the Gap

JaneEyreLaughing · 11/10/2024 00:22

I have a Rua White Stuff dress.
It fits perfectly except for a gap between two buttons on the chest.
I know I could put a safety pin in but I think it will be noticed.
I've heard about double sided tape but would this work?

I just want to close the gap! Any ideas?

Could you wear a brooch?

I have this problem on any dress with buttons, you need to sew it shut. Invisible slip stitches from the inside, it's very easy and quick to do by hand.

Pin it first though and make sure you can still get into it!

I use this on a shirt that gapes in one spot between the buttons:

Stays put throughout the day and I can reuse one piece several times before it loses its stickiness (I put it back on the backing paper after use).

I have a floral do with this problem or rather I did before I lost weight and it went to charity and I have a tiny brooch that fitted in with the design.

Velcro?

I have this problem with my work uniform. I just place a new piece of double sided tape there each day and it holds all day (very physical job so lots of movement!)

Small press-stud? Bit fiddly but once it's on you don't have to think about it.

I got some double sided tape from Amazon for this, works a treat! A while ago I had a lovely dress but the buttons were quite far apart and I was worried about gaping. My
lovely MIL sewed some tiny press studs in the gaps and it was perfect.

Thank you all for these great ideas.
I can't wear a broach in the spot where it gapes as it is just a bit too low down to look natural.
I've ordered the double sided tape-thank you again.
