Oops I did it again

Despite knowing every single time I box dye my hair it goes wrong, I apparently forgot this and box dyed my hair and shocker it's gone wrong.

What should be a light ashy brown has turned almost black with a reddish hue.

Lesson learnt and I will go to the hairdressers, am using blue shampoo to dull it and have also used a box dye stripping kit thingie but it only helped a bit - is there anything I can do to lighten it in the meantime please???

Op I had mouse coloured hair before it went grey and fwiw after years of trial and error and blunders I discovered that anything that mentions “gold” on the packet goes reddy orange. “Ash” is the key word to look for if you want to avoid the cocoa the clown look! 😂😂.

Not that your photo looks anything like C the C btw! It looks gorgeous and I would kill to have hair like yours instead of my current straight badger thatch! 😂😂

I also think that both your colour and cut look really good, OP!

But if you want to take the colour down faster, you can try saturating your hair with warm olive oil before your clarifying shampoo treatments, or Vosene or whatever. You don’t need a fancy olive oil for this but I think you will need 150 ml or more.

Warm the oil gently and comb through your hair until it is saturated. Pop a shower cap or warm towel on and leave for 30-60 min or even longer. Then shampoo out. Use the clarifying shampoo for the first lather and maybe something gentler for a second lather, which you will likely need.

The OO helps take the colour down further whilst treating your hair gently, although I don’t find it to be a superstar conditioner or anything.

Looks absolutely stunning OP. I too have blonde and I’m hoping to go dark.

Which dye did you use?

Malibu CPR is bloody brilliant to remove excessive dye molecules if you want to give it a go. But honestly it’s a gorgeous tone x

It’s not a miracle, OP. But for me it does seem to help with the fade. I always use it a couple of times before a dye job on my full head. I think it helps to keep from getting that look of colour build up

Your hair looks lovely.

This has a lot of dimension compared to a light ashy brown, it’s nice.

You could complement with a top that isn’t grey as that is a very cold colour contrasting too much with the warmth.
