Off to opera - dress code?

My friend and I are off to Riga next week, and we have impulsively booked tickets to the opera because they're super cheap.

Now wondering if the dress code is going to be quite fancy... We are flying on a Ryanair small bag, and space is premium. Would high-waisted leather trousers suffice? Or a midi satin skirt?

Also, was planning to be in trainers the whole time. Is this a no-no,opera wise?

It's a matinée, not evening if that makes a difference.

TIA.

My ds has just been performing in Riga this week. No one will notice what you’re wearing, what you have planned sounds fine, have a lovely time!

I’ve done opera in jeans and also in long evening clothes. Be aware that you may have a small space in your seat so big skirts might not be brilliant.

whatever you feel good in and is appropriate to a public space!

what are you seeing? Hope you have a lovely time.

There's no dress codes for opera at any of the opera houses I've been at. At evening performances some people take opportunity to be "dressy" to varying degrees , many don't.

Oh good. I will not plan an extra outfit then 👍
