Clueless fashion question

I don't like tucking things in because my tummy is quite big, though my waist is small. How do I not look like I'm wearing sacks all the time? I like looser clothing but the ways people create shape (ie by tucking or wearing short tops) don't suit me. At a loss!

Put a belt round it, a french tuck, knot it

I tend to wear jeans and big jumpers

Can I just jump in to say I’m exactly the same. Small waist but big tummy. I can’t seem to see what styles will suit me at all.

Add the fact that I’ve got short legs with huge calves so loads of jeans and trouser styles just don’t suit either

Glad it's not just me!

Small waist here, meno belly. My bottom half would look bigger if I cut it off with a belt, and I wear high waisted to hold the tummy in so tucking wouldn’t work, plus loose smock-style just like a cover-up tent. So, I get you! I tend toward a fitted jumper / top, with a nice waist shape, but not tight around the middle. If that makes sense! You’re more likely to find it at M&S than Zara… I can’t really buy “fashion” looks anymore, just find what suits my shape best. Worn with jeans or chinos.
