Hi everyone, new job starts on 14th Oct. I'm a size 18/20 at the moment but on mounjaro so hope to lose weight soon. I am so unfashionable, I don't have many clothes, don't follow trends. I have huge HH boobs so find everything awkward on me. The only style I've found that does suit my shape is peplum. I'll be in the office twice a week so can afford to recycle looks.
The dress code is casual office/comfy vibes but smart ish. Are trainers allowed? I've been looking at burgundy trainers as they're in fashion but most places are sold out.
i have no idea what to wear or buy even as staples. I have a big tummy overhang from 2 csections so cant do the 'tuck in the tshirt into floaty trousers' look. Please help a girl out!

I highly doubt that this will be helpful to you, @Itsmahoneybaloney, as we probably have very different tastes. I lean towards old school formality even when it’s not specifically required. And I don’t like black trousers so don’t wear them. I do like skirts. Haven’t worn leggings for non-sports reasons since the mid-1980s.

Can’t really show you my own clothes, but these are the type of outfits I’ll be wearing to meetings, conferences, etc, between now and next Spring.

I was an 18/20 and also on mounjaro.

I don't follow fashion and I have always worn dresses to work. Fit and flare styles accentuate the waist whilst drawing attention away from my stomach.

Plus when in weight loss drugs you will lose weight and dresses are more forgiving than badly fitted trousers

This kind of style. My other advice is if you buy good brands on Vinted they have a good resale value

Sorry op but leggings are absolutely not appropriate for most offices.
At an absolute push, jeggings with a smart shirt and blazer.
I'd go to a big M&S and try on a few different shapes of their trousers, see what you feel comfortable in.
Then I'd pick a blazer - doesn't have to be super smart, jersey will do.
Then a t shirt, long sleeved top and a smarter shirt for underneath. That gives you a few options.
Depending on the style of office, the trainers may be ok or you may be better off with some plain white ones like adidas Stan smiths or Veja.

Thanks, I've tried this on today and felt so nice in it. This with a black cardigan and boots?! Would that be OK for a first day?

I really like that dress! I think that sounds like an ideal first day outfit. Not too formal, but smart enough.

Where's that dress from?

banjaxxed · 08/10/2024 23:39

I'm a similar size, we're smart casual and I usually wear trousers, t-shirt top, blazer and white or black trainers

Or a dress with tights/boots

Intensiv14 · 09/10/2024 00:25

i tend to wear wide leg trousers, round neck jumpers, fitted long sleeve tops, and maybe a polo neck or two in winter. Trainers wouldn’t really be acceptable in my office, so I wear flats.

eatyeateat · 09/10/2024 12:32

The dress is great, if it's comfortable get a similar style and that should do it

That dress looks like what I would wear (similar size, and also similar office)
